Description

(No Model.)
' W. M. SCOTT.
PUMP.
No. 400,124. Patented Mar. 26, 1889.
S llllll'/i UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM M. SCOTT, OF ELMVVOOD, ILLINOIS.
PUMP.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 400,124, dated March 26, 1889.
Application tiled January 11, 1888. Serial No. 260,7 94. (No model.)
To allwhom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, WILLIAM M. SCOTT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Elmwood, in the county of Peoria and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Pump, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in pumps having submerged cylinders and the object of my improvements is to provide easy and speedy means f raising and lowering the cylinders without removing the dischargepipe. I attain this object by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings,in whichf Figure l is a side view of the pump with parts cut away to show the valves. Fig. 2 is a back view showing pump partly raised, with parts out away to show connection between pump and discharge-pipe. Fig. 3 is a crosssection drawn on the line N N. Fig. 4. shows the position of the lugs d and c when engaged.
Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
A A are pump-cylinders attached to bedplate C.
D is a plate attached to discharge-pipe E, having openings K K', corresponding with openingsin discharge-pipe E and with openings in cylinders A A.
O O are flanges extending' from the edges of bed-plate O, from which project lugs c c l c c', forming a dovetail, in which the plate i D fits.
cl d d' d' are wedge-shaped lugs projecting from plate D and wedging againstlugs c c c c and holding bed-plate firmly againstplate D when the pump is in position.
G G are spring-clamps'extending from beding the pump to the pipe while raising orlowering the pump.
J J are ribs extending from discharge-pipe E and guiding the bed-plate C into position in lowering the pump.
H is a rod by which the pump is raised, lowered, or held in position.
What I claim as my invention, and wish to secure by Letters Patent, is-
III a pump, the combination of cylinders A A', attached to bed-plate C, a discharge-pipe, E, a plate, D, attached to the discharge-pipe E, openings K K', connecting cylinders A A' and discharge-pipe E, lugs d d d d' on plate D, lugs c c c' c on bed-plate O/,spring-clamps G G, attached to bed-plate C, projecting ribs J J on discharge-pipeE, and a rod, H, attached to bed-plate C, substantially as set forth in foregoing drawings and speciication.
