SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 395,417, dated. January 1, 1889.
Application filed November 20, 1888- Serial No. 291,392. (No model.)

Be it known that I, MENDEL BAsKAM, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Ornamental l-3ox,ot' which the followingis a t'ull,clear, and exact description.

Figure 1. is a perspective View of my new 1 and improved ornamental box, and Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional ele\"ation of the same.
The invention will first be described in connection with the drawings and then pointed out in the claim.
The bottom act the box isof a single thickness of sheet metal. To the edges of this are secured the front and back panels I) b and end panel, 0 c. The said panels are each formed of a tubular rectangular frame, (I d, that istormed of four tubes, each formed with a slot, 9, and mitercd together at the ends and soldered. Before the said tubes are all secured together at the ends an inner sheet metal plate, 1", is placed in the frame, also an outer plate, g,o'l' glass, and between these is held an ornamental card, h; or, in place of this, any form of ornament may be placed between the plates f y. The panels being thus made, they are all soldered together and to the edges of the bottom a. The coverj may or may not be used. It is formed like the panels forming the sides and ends oi. the box, of slotted tubes j, fitted upon the edges of the plate j j and glassj, and between the platej and the sheet of glass J is placed the ornamental card j, so that the box has an entire outer surface of glass with ornamentation placed between each plate and an inner plate. In this manner the box may be made very cheaply and the ornamentation fully protected.
Having thus described my invention, what 1' claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
