Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JAY TONEY, OF OMAHA, NEBRASKA.
PU LLEY.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 393,941,dated December 4, 1888.
Application filed February 23, 1888. Serial No. 264,879- (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, J AY TONEY, of Omaha, in the county of Douglas and State of Nebraska, have invented a new and Improved Pulley, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to a pulley designed more especially for use in connection with heavy forks or unloaders; and the invention consist-s, principally, in combining with the frame of the pulley a detachable head or knob, so that the pulley may readily be provided with a head of any size required for any haycarrier.
The invention also consists in the special construction of the pulley, as hereinafter described.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure 1 is a sectional elevation of my new and improved pulley. Fig. 2'is an edge View of the same, and Fig. 3 shows an enlarged,
head detached from the frame of the pulley.
A represents the frame of the pulley, formed of one casting With the cheek pieces a a, bridge Z) at the bottom, and side pieces, 0 c, which unite the cheek-pieces a a at the edges.
The pulley-wheel B is journaled in the main frame A upon the shaft C. At the upper end of the main frame is held by the removable pin (1 the block D. This block is formed with the shank f and knob gfor connection with a carrier. 7
The blocks D may be made with knobs g of various sizes, and one block may be changed for another by removing pin (l, so that the pulley may be provided with a knob to adapt it for use with any carrier.
The pin (1 may be driven out with a punch and reinserted to hold any of the interchangeable blocks.
In the bridge I) is swiveled the hook E, as shown clearly in the. drawings.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The main frame A, made in one casting with the cheek-pieces a a and bridge I), in combination with the pulley-wheel B and removable block D, formed with a knob, g, substantially as described.
JAY TONEY.
