PECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 392,811, dated November 13, 1833.

To all whom it may concern..-

Beitknown that I, G-EORGEE. LANE, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Albans, in the county of Franklin and State of Vermont, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Show-Stands; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and eX- act description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this speciiica` tion.

The object of my invention is to provide a simple, durable, and economical show-stand for holding and exhibiting fancy papers,wa]lpapers, newspapers, 8mo.

rlhe nature of my invention will be described below and pointed out in the claim.

In the drawings, Figure l is a perspective view. Fig. 2 is an end View, the frame being at an inclination.

Like letters refer to like parts.

A is the base, and B are vertical standards. Between the tops of the latter is pivoted at ff a large frame, C, and to adjust the inclination of said frame athumb-screw, 17, may be used in connection with one of the pivots, and, if desired, casters A may be attached to the base A; but where the stand is placed upon a -table, &c., as it often will be, the casters are not needed or desirable. Upon the upper surface of the side bars of the frame are inserted a number of screw-eyes, a a, and between these, across the frame, are extended wires or suitable strings, b b. By this arrangement a frame of ordinary size will accommodate a large number of wires. Instead of screw-eyes nails may be preferred, as they are cheaper and look more finished.' Upon each wire a quire or sheets of paper can be placed, the arrangement being according to shades of color, if desired. (See h h.) As the frame is practically open on all sides and capable of being` adjustably inclined, the display will be satisfactory and full, and each sheet can be removed or restored to place at will. The stand is effective for the purpose and may be used in a window or in any desirable location, which is not the case with most devices of the kind.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-

The combination, with the base A and the standards B,of the single frame C, located centrally between the tops of the standards, and provided on the npper surface of its sides with screw-eyes c and transverse wires or strings b, said frame being capable of adj ustable inclination to bring either end up or down by means of the pivots ff', and the thumbscrew g, whereby the paper on the strings near either end may be raised or lowered according to the display desired, as set forth.
