DASH-BOARD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 383,601, dated May 29, 1888.
Application filed September 12, 1887. Serial No. 249,452. (No model.)
To all whom it mag concern.-
Be it known that I, BENJAMIN F. THOMAS, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Delaware, in the county of Delaware and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dash-Boards for Vehicles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
My invention relates to wood-pulp dashboards for vehicles; and it consists in certain details of construction, which will first be described in connection with the accompanying drawings, and then clearly pointed out in the claims.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a perspective view of the dash-board made of wood pulp. Fig. 2 is a horizontal section of the same,taken on the line 00 m. Fig. 3 is a vertical section of the same, taken on the line y y.
In carrying out my invention I use dies or formers adapted to give the dash-board A the desired shape, between which the pulp is pressed in any of the well-known Ways. After the pulp is pressed to shape,the dash-board is removed from the dies and dried and finally finished by varnishing.
In order to strengthen the dash-board at its edgcs,and also to give it the appearance of hav ing a frame-work,I form it with a-raised mold ing along its sides and top on the inner side, as seen ata b. On the same side,at the bottom,
I form a rabbct, c, to fit over the upper edge of the front panel of the vehicle-body. Preferably I make the front or outer s'de of the 5 dash-board plain.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A dash-board formed entirely of wood pulp and having an integral molding along the sides and across the top of one of its surfaces,
its other surface being plain, for the purposes set forth.
