Field of the Invention This invention relates to a new type of detachable and interchangeable combination wig and hat, which can be easily separated from each other and a new and different wig or hat substituted. The invention is equally adapted for a combination cap and wig, and a combination visor and wig.
2. Prior art Although some prior art exists with respect to the use of wigs in combination with a scarf, applicant knows of no prior art showing a detachable and interchangeable combination wig and hat, or wig and cap, or wig and visor.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The invention comprises a novel combination wig and hat, either of which can be readily and easily detached from each other and a different wig or hat substituted. The hat has a strip or band of adhesive material attached by any suitable means, such as sewing, to the inside periphery of the hat. A similar strip or band of adhesive material is attached by any suitable means to the outside top circumference of the wig. Suitable adhesive material consists of the material known as Velcro, which can be easily and readily joined together or separated, as the case may be.
The wig and hat are joined together by placing their respective Velcro bands together and pressing the bands sufficiently to connect the wig and hat together.
If it is desired to change the hat or the wig, a new and different hat or wig, each having a similar strip or band of adhesive material, may be substituted, as the case may be, for the original hat or wig, by pulling the original hat and wig apart, and joining the new hat or wig in the same manner.
The same can be done for a combination cap and wig, or for a combination visor and wig. The cap and wig combination, as well as the visor and wig combination, have similar strips or bands of adhesive material attached in locations comparable to the wig and hat combination.
It is, therefore, an object of my invention to provide a detachable and interchangeable combination wig and hat in which either the wig or the hat can be readily and easily separated and substituted with a different wig or hat as the case may be.
Another object of my invention is to provide a detachable and interchangeable combination wig and cap in which either the wig or cap can be readily and easily separated and substituted with a different cap or wig as the case may be.
A further object of my invention is to provide a detachable and interchangeable combination visor and wig in which either the visor or wig can be readily and easily separated and substituted with a differnet visor or wig as the case may be.
A still further object of my invention is to provide the foregoing combinations of wig and hat, cap and wig, and visor and wig, with means for easily and readily removing and connecting together different wigs with different hats, caps, and visors, as the case may be.
These and other objects will be more readily understood by reference to the following specification and claims, taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which FIG. 1 is a perspective view of an embodiment of my invention showing a wig and cap combination on a persons head.
FIG. 2 is a side elevational view of the wig and cap combination of FIG. 1.
FIG. 3 is a detail section showing the means of attachment of the wig and cap combination.
FIG. 4 is a perspective view of an embodiment of my invention showing a wig and hat combination on a persons head.
FIG. 5 is a side elevational view of the wig and hat combination of FIG. 4.
FIG. 6 is a detail section showing the means of attachment of the wig and hat combination, taken along line 66 of FIG. 5.
FIG. 7 is a perpsective view of an embodiment of my invention showing a visor and wig combination.
FIG. 8 is a side elevational view of the visor and wig combination of FIG. 7.
FIG. 9 is a view taken along line 99 of FIG. 8.
FIG. 10 is a detailed view showing the means of attachment of the visor and wig combination.
The wig or hair piece and cap combination 10 of FIG. 1 comprises a conventional knit cap 12 and a partial wig or fall 13. The adhesive strip member 14 is attached to the cap 12 by sewing or other suitable means. A corresponding adhesive strip member 16 is attached by sewing or other suitable means to the mesh portion 18 of the wig 13. The strips may be made of any suitable adhesive material which permits ready detachment and re-joining, such as Velcro, of the strips together.
The strip members 14 and 16 preferably should extend sufficiently in length so that all of the top portion of the wig 13 is joined to the cap 12.
The wig or hair piece and hat combination 20 of FIG. 4a5 comprises a conventional cloche hat 22 and a full wig 24. The adhesive strip member 26 is annular in form and extends completely around the inside periphery of the top portion of the hat 22. Similarly, the corresponding adhesive strip member 28 extends completely around the top outer periphery of the wig 24. The adhesive strip member 26 is sewn or attached by other suitable means to the inside periphery of the top portion of the hat 22, at a location just above the brim 30 which extends completely around the top portion.
The adhesive strip member 28 is sewn or otherwise attached to the mesh 32 of the wig 24.
The visor and wig or hair piece combination 34 of FIG. 7 comprises a conventional visor 36 having a full wig 38 attached to it. The'adhesive strip member 40 of the visor 36 extends all the way around the inside of the band 42 of the visor 36 and has, preferably, an overlap portion 44 for more secure attachment of the ends of the band 42 together. The overlap portion 44 has adhesive material on both sides so that the back portion 46 of the wig 38 may be secured by adhesive strip member 48 to it. The front and side portions of the wig 38 have adhesive strip member 50 sewn or otherwise suitable attached to the outer periphery of the top portion of wig 38. The corresponding adhesive strip member 40 is preferably located just above the brim 52 of the visor 36.
In operation, the wig and cap combination 10 may be readily separated by pulling the wig or fall 13 away from the cap 12. A new and different wig may then be joined to the cap 12 by pressing the adhesive strip member 16 of the different wig to the corresponding adhesive strip member 14 of the cap 12.
Alternatively, a new and different cap may be joined in the same manner to the wig or fall 13.
The wig and hat combination 20 may be readily sepa rated by pulling the wig 24 away from the hat 22. A new and different wig may then be joined to the hat 22 by pressing the adhesive strip member 28 of the new wig to the corresponding adhesive strip member 26 of the hat 22.
Alternatively, a new and different hat may be substituted and joined in the same manner to the wig 24.
The visor and wig combination 34 may be readily separated by pulling the wig 38 away from the visor 36. A new and different wig 38 may then be joined to the visor 12 by pressing the adhesive strip member 50 of the wig to the corresponding adhesive strip member 40 of the visor 36, and by pressing the adhesive strip member 48 of the back portion of the wig to the outer portion of the overlap portion 44 of the visor 36.
Alternatively, a new and different visor may be substituted and joined in the same mannr to the wig 38.
Although I have described preferred embodiments of my invention, it is understood that numerous changes in construction and arrangement of component elements may be made within the scope of my invention as hereinafter claimed. 1
