I UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
' HENRY C. YEISER, OF CINCINNATI, OHIO, ASSIGNOR To-THE GLOBE COM- PANY, OF SAME PLACE.
FILE-HOLDER.
. SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 378,072, dated February 14, 1888.
' Application filed July 5, 1887. Serial No. 243,420. (No model.)
To all whom ifimay concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY G. YEISER, of Cincinnati, Hamilton county, Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in File- Holders, of which the following is a specification.
My invention is an improvement in devices for compact and orderly filing away of papers and documents in a manner which affords ready access to any individual file or paper without disarrangement of any others.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure I is a perspective rear view which shows a fileholder embodying my invention in the closed condition of such holder. Fig. II is a side elevation of the same holder in its'open condition, a portion of the receptacle being shown broken away. Fig. III is a transverse section of the said holder in its closed condition. Fig. IV represents one of my two combined guide, web, and socket pieces-detached.
Permanently attached to one end of a rectangular base, 1, isa customary front or head board, 2, which with said base constitutes the receptacle proper. The said two parts of the receptacle are firmly braced together by customary guide bars or rails, 3. These bars, besides doing duty asbraces, serve as supports and guides for the file supporting and clamping follow-board, to be presently described.
The base 1 has in its upper surface and extending throughout its length an undercut groove, 4, which receives the neck 5 and the horns 6 of the clampinglever 7. The said tallic plate, 8. Shoulders 9 of said lever, that rest and slide upon the top of said plate 8, constitute the fulcrums of said lever. said lever has a T-head,.10, whose rounded extremities constitute pivots 11, that are journaled within sockets 12, which are integrally connected to guide-eyes 13 (engaged upon the rails 3) by shanks or webs 14. Each of the two pieces 12 13 14 (of identical form) consists of a singleintegral casting or forging, and (being attached to the follow-board 15 by means of tacks or screws 16) discharges the twofold functions of socket for the clampinglever and guide-eye for the follow-board.
I claim as newand of my invention 1'. In a file-holder, the described combination, with the guide-rails, the follow board,
groove is preferably formed of a slotted me- 5 The and the T-headed clamping-lever, of "the two combined guide-eye, web, and socket pieces.
each piece being formed of a single integral' Attest:
