Description

(No Model.)
D. A. DE NISI.
GHEOKREIN BAR, No. 375,477. Patented 1m. 27, 1887 13 i I'M c on c 0 5140014 601 NV warms, Phuw-Lilhognpher. Washinglun. 0.1;
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE,
DON .A. DE NISI, OF FORESTVILLE, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO EDWARD BARNARD, OF ROME, NEW YORK.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DoN A. DE NIsI, a citizen of the United States, residing at F crestville, in the county of Chautauqua and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Check-Bars, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in check-bars or spreaders for harness; and it consists in the'construction and arrangement of the parts thereof, which will be more fully hereinafter described, and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, wherein like letters of relereneeindicate similar parts in the several views, Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved check-bar. Fig. 2 isan elevation thereof.
A represents a horizontal bar, which is formed with reduced ends a at, having suitable ornamental knobs, a, and loops a The central portion of the bar is formed with a swelled loop, a, havingastationary perpendicular bar, a. The parts as just described are all formed integral and at one operation. A strap, B, is passed around the bar a in the loop a and is sewed at its central portion to form the loops 2; o, the loop 1; engaging with the bar a and the loop being free for attachment to the check-hook.
It will be understood that the ends of the Application filed October 7, 1887. Serial No. 251,742.
'ientin attaching to the check-hook.
CHECKRElN-BAR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 375,477, dated December 27, 1887.
(No model.)
checkreins will be secured to the loops a, and the loop'o of the strap B secured in connection with the check hook. The strap B, mounted in connection with the bar A, as above described, allows the animal to move his head laterally. The ends of the bar taper somewhat from the swell-loop in the center toward theloops a By the use of the leather strap B a durable and serviceable connection is obtained, which at the same time is conven- This construction also permits of a ready attachment of the bar to any style of check-hook.
The utility of my device being obviously apparent, it is unnecessary to further enlarge upon the same herein.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is 1. A horizontallyformed check-bar or spreaderhaving a central swelled loop inclosing a bar for the attachment of the strap.
2. A check-bar or spreader having the central loop inclosing a bar for the attachment of a strap, and the check-attaching loops a".
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto aflixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
DON A. DE NISI.
