HAME AND HAM E-TUG ATTACHMENT.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 374,841, dated December 13, 1887,

Be it known that I, FRANK LAGERLEF, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cambridge, in the county of Henry and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hame and Heme-Tug At- :achments, of which the followingis a descrip- My invention relates to harness, and more especially to the manner ofattaching the hametug to the hame; and the object of my invention is to provide a means and a device for attaching a hame-tug to a hame,whereby the different parts may be strengthened and made more durable.

The invention consists in the combination, with a hame and hame-tug,of a staple adapted to be secured around the hame and provided with a supplemental arm and a hook to which the hame-tug is secured.

. The invention further consists in the details of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter fully described and claimed.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure l represents a perspective view of aportion of a hame with my improvements applied thereto, and Fig. 2 shows in detail the parts detached A represents a portion of a hame.

B represents my improved staple, consisting 0 of arms 0 D, each provided near its end with a perforation, E, and a supplemental arm, F, also having a perforation. The said supplemental arm is formed integrally with the staple B, and is arranged parallel with the arm D,with sufficient space between them for the ordinary purposes.

G represents a hook to which the hame-tug is attached. The hook G is formed at its forward end with a perforation, H. The rear end of said hook is bifurcated, and each of the bifurcated portions is provided with a perforation, J

To secure the staple D to the hame, it is only necessary to have one perforation in said hame. The arm 0 is bent around the hame until the perforations E register with the perforation in the hame. The rearend of the hook G is then inserted between the arm D and supplemental arm F until the perforation Hin said hook registers with the perforation E. A pin, K, is then passed through the perforations in the hame, staple, and hook and is riveted, thus securing the said parts together.

To secure the hame-tug L to the hook G, an opening is formed in the forward end of the said tug, and a pin is passed through the perforations and the opening in the forward end of the hame-tug.

By'the employment of my improvements it will be seen that the inconvenience of using two staples is avoided, and also the necessity of making three openings in the hame, which lessens its strength and durability.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters 6.5 Patent, is-

1. The combination,with a hame and hame tug, of a staple adapted to be secured around the hame and provided with an arm, D, and supplemental arm F, and a hook pivotally secured between the arm D and. supplemental arm F, substantially as described.

2. The combination,with ahame and hametug, of a staple having arms 0 D and supplemental arm F, the arms 0 and D adapted to clasp the hame, and a hook adapted to be secured between the arm D and supplemental arm F, substantially as described.

3. The combination,witha hame and hametug, of a staple having arms 0 D and supple 8o mental arm F, each of which is provided with a perforation, a hook provided with a perforation,which is placed between the arm D and supplemental arm F, and a pin adapted to be passed through the perforations in the staple 8: and hook and an opening in the hame to secure the said parts together, substantially as described.
