3 Claims, 4 Drawing Figures SK! CARRIER BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Field of the Invention The present invention relates to ski carriers and particularly to ski carries which will permit the skis to be hand carried.
SUMMARY, OF THE INVENTION A ski carrier whichclamps the skis in spaced apart relation with their flat surfaces parallel and includes a handle for carrying the skis from place to place.
The primary object of the invention is to provide a ski carrier in which the skis are rigidly secured together and are convenient to carry and store.
' Other objects and advantages willbecome apparent in the following specification when considered in the light of the attached drawings.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS FIG. 1 is a side elevation of the invention with the skis shown clamped therein in broken lines;
FIG. 2 is an enlarged transverse cross-section taken along the line 2--2 of FIG. 1 looking in the direction of the arrows;
FIG. 3 is a top plan view of the invention; and
FIG. 4 is a transverse sectional view taken along the line 4-4 of FIG. 3 looking in the direction of the arrows.
Referring now to the drawings in detail wherein like reference characters indicate like parts throughout the several figures the reference numeral indicates generally a ski carrier constructed in accordance with the invention.
The ski carrier 10 includes a pair of clamped plates 11, 12 arranged in spaced apart parallel relation. The plates l1, 12 have a resilient coating 13 applied thereto to prevent scarring of the skis. A carriage bolt 14 has its square shank 15 engaged in a generally U-shaped handle member 16 having a hand grip 17 secured to the opposite end thereof. A wing nut 18 is detachably secured to the lower end of the carriage bolt 14 to draw the plates ll, 12 together in clamping engagement with the opposite side edges of a pair of skis 19 as can be seen in FIGS. 1 and 2.
In the use and operation of the invention the handle 16 with the plate 11 positioned thereon is engaged against the side edges of a pair of skis with the carriage bolt 14 extending downwardly therebetween. The plate 12 is then engaged over the bolt 14 and the wing nut 18 is tightened thereon to clamp the plate 11 and plate 12 tightly to the skis 19 so as to rigidly secure the handle 16 to the skis 19. The resilient material 13 with which the plates 11 and 12 are coated prevents scratching of the skis and produces a better grip than would bare metal. The coating 13 may be painted, sprayed or attached to the plates 11, 12 by any conventional means.
Having thus described the preferred embodiment of the invention it should be understood that numerous structural modifications and adaptations may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention.
I claim:
1. A hand ski carrier comprising a pair of clamping plates adapted to engage the opposite side edges of a pair of skis positioned with their flat surfaces parallel, a bolt extending through each of said plates and between said skis, a U-shaped handle having said bolt extending through one end thereof with the head of said bolt engaging said one end of said handle, and a clamping wing nut threaded on said bolt and engaging one of said plates for moving said one of said plates toward the other of said plates in a ski clamping direction.
2. A device as claimed in claim 1 wherein a resilient coating is fixed to each of said clamping plates to improve the clamping contact between said ski carrier and said skis.
3. A device as claimed in claim 1 wherein said handle has a hand grip covering positioned thereon.

Claims (3)
