DOOR-HANGER.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 374,656, dated December 13, 1887.

To all whom it may concern:

Beit known that I, JOHN CHRISTMA NN, of M ilwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee, and in the State of Wisconsin, haveinvented certain new and useful Improvements in Door-Hangers; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof.

My invention relates to door-hangers; and it consistsin certain peculiarities of construction and combination of parts, to be hereinafter described with reference to the accompanying drawings, and subsequently claimed.

In the drawings, Figure 1 represents a side elevation, partly in section, of adoor-hanger constructed according to my inventionand in operative position; and Fig. 2,avertical transverse section of the same.

Referring by letter to the drawings, A represents brackets suitably secured to a doorcasing,'and fastened by screws or other suitable means to the right-angular ends a of these brackets is a horizontal rail, B, that has a groove, b, in its upper face and serves as a track for beveled rollers C.

Secured to the lower edges of a housing, D, are plates d, that rest upon the journals c ofthe rollers C, said plates being turned down at their ends to form stops e, as best illustrated in Fig. l. The housing D is fastened to rightangular brackets E, that have screw-threaded eyes f to engageA the ends g of screw-rods F,

said rods having been passed through eyes h,- belonging to brackets G, that are secured to the upper edge of a door, H.

By operating the rods F the door may bel (No model.)

readily adjusted so as to hang perfectly true, and at the same time bring the plates d on the housing into frictional contact with the journais cof the rollers C.

lIt will be noticed that the rollers O are free on the rails B and move with the housing D when the door H is run in or out. Consequently therefis an anti-friction bearing between the plates 'd ou said housing and the journals c of these rollers.

By having the rollers C disconnected from the housing D they always remain on the track regardless of any tilting of the door.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-f In a door-hanger. the combination of the brackets A, having their upper ends secured lo a door-casing, the grooved rail B, connected to the lower ends of said brackets, the beveled rollers C, arranged on said rail, the housing D,

supported on the journals of said rollers, the brackets Eprovided with screw-threaded eyes f, connected to said housing, the brackets G, having eyes h, secured to ado`or,and thescrewrods F, adjustably uniting said brackets E G,

l substantially as set forth.
