' SAMUEL N. MAXAM, OF SHELBURNE FALLS, MASSACHUSETTS.
IMPROVEMENT IN SINKS.
Specification forming part of Let-,ters Patent No. 37,4541, dated January 20, 1863.
VIo all whom it may concern,.-
Be it known that I, SAMUEL N. MAXAM. of Shelburne Fallsiu the county of Franklin and State .of Massachusetts, have invented a newand useful Improvement in Sinks; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, the said drawings making a part of this specilioation, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view, as is also Fig. 2.
Letter A represents the top sluiegrate, moving. lengthwise in a groove cast in the sink, having woodenbars (marked F) placed transversely upon it, or raised slightly above it, supported on posts east upon it, thewooden bars F being used for supporting dishes and vessels while draining into the sink beneath. lLetter B represents the lower slide-grate, moving lengthwise in a groove cast in the sink underneath the groove in which the top slidegrate, A, moves,and is for receiving the dishes and vessels drained upon top slide-grate, A, when dried.
The letter C represents a circular basin for holding water, cast in the sink.

What I claim as my invention, and desire t0 secure by Letters Patent, is-
lhe combination and arrangement o: the top slide-grate, A,with the transverse Wooden bars F, and the lower slide-grate, B, and the basin U, and the movable wash-bowl D,rest ing in and upon the yoke E, and sliding upon the rod G, for the purposes of a sink, and as above set forth.
