SELF-CLOSING GATE FOR CASHIERS WINDOWS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N0.368,752, dated August 23, 1.887.
Application filed April 18, 1887. Serial No. 235,292. (No model.)
To all whom it iii/my concern:
Be it known that I, WILSON B. CANNON, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Akron, in the county of Summit and State of Ohio,have invented anew and useful Improvementin Self- Closing Gates for Cashiers Win dows, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to prevent persons on the outside of the counter or desk stealing funds from the desk through the cashiers window when he leaves his position behind it.
It consists of the devices illustrated in the accompanying drawings, as hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 shows in perspective a part of a cashiers desk or counter embodying myinvcntion; and Fig. 2, a vertical section of the floor, movable platform, and connected parts.
In the screen on the top front ofthe desk A is theusual window, B,'in which isa verticallysliding gate, 0, which movesin suitable guides. In the floor F, where the cashier stands when at his desk, is a small verticallymoving platform. E, connected beneath the floor by the hinge Iwith the lever G and held up by the spring J. A rod, D, connects the gate 0 and lever G, so that when the cashier stands opposite the window his weight sinks the platform .and raises the gate, and when he leaves his \VILSON B. CANNON.
