Description

(No Model.)
H. A. WITHERELL.
CASTBR.
No. 367,329. Patented July 26, 1887.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY A. WITHERELL, OF ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR TO THE ROCK FORD SILVER PLATE' COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
CASTER.
SPECPICAIIN forming part of Letters Patent No. 367,329, dated July 26,1887. Application filed November 6, 1885. Serial No. 182,005. (No model.)
vTo all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY A. WITHEEELL,
va citizen of the United States, residing in the city of Rockford, in the county of Winnebago and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Casters, of which the It consists in an independent swivel-'sup-- port to the bottle-supporting caster-rim and iu the bottlesupporting rim.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is an isometrical representation of a easter embodying my invention. j Fig. 2 is a central vertical section. Fig. 3 is an isometrical representation of the swivel-support to the bottle-supporting rim, and Fig. 4 is an under face view of the bottle-supportiug rim and its swivel-support. A
The foot or pedestal portion A is ofbell form, and its shaft B is produced in journal form and provided with an axial screw-bolt, C, rising therefrom, and, in connection with the handle D, fitted to receive the screw-bolt C to connect the parts, are .in every essential feature substantially identical with like parts of casters nowin use and to be found in the trade.
The caster-rim E is produced preferably f rom'plate material substantially uniform in thickness and of proper dimensions, punched, pressed, spun, struck up or otherwise produced to therequired pattern, fitted to receive the casterlbottles, and to be properly supported on the pedestal.
A spider-formed support to the caster-rim is produced with a tubular hub, F, to receive the journal portion of `the pedestal in a manner to permit of an oscillatory or rotary movement thereon. The tubular hub F is pro-V vided'with radial arms H in spider form, of 45 proper dimensions and in position to receive the'central vportion of the under face of the caster-rim, and extend outward between the holes prepared therein for the reception of the caster-bottles. The tubular hub of the spider is placed on the journal portion of the pedestal. The caster-rim is then placed on the spider, and the handle put in place on the axial screw-bolt serves to fix the parts in place, and with the parts suitably finished completes the caster'.
I claim as my invention- In a caster, the combination, with a base, a handle, a suitable connection between the base and handle, and abottle-holder provided with flanges depending from the rims of the bottle vertically removable therefrom, substantially as set forth.
