STORM-APRON FOR CARRIAGES.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 366,993, dated July 19, 1887.

To all whom it may concern;

Be it known that I, ALBERT D. BASTIAN, of Lyons, in the county of \Vayne, in the State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Storm-Apronsfor Carriages, of which the following, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, is a full, clear, and exact description.

This invention relates to the class of storni- IO aprons which are provided at one end with devices for securing them to the dash-boards of carriages; and the invention consists in novel, simple, and inexpensive attaching devices connected to the storm-apron and auto i5 matically adjustable to accommodate themselves to different widths of dash-boards, as hereinafter fully described, and specifically set forth in the claim.

In the annexed drawings, Figure l is a perspective view showing a storm-apron connected to a carriage by my improved fastenings. Fig. 2 is an enlarged transverse section on line 00 m, Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a transverse section on line 3 3 Fig. 2; and Fig. 4 is an inverted plan view of that portion of the stormapron which is attached to the dash-board.

A represents the stormapron. which is of 0 sufficient length to form laps A A across one end thereof, the lap 'A being folded under against the lap A and retained in said folded position by buttons a a on one lap passing through button-holes b b in the other lap. The

Fig. I of the drawings. To the under side of the aforesaid laps I secure elastic straps or bands 8 8, each of which has one end attached to the lap A and the opposite end attached o to the lap A. The intermediate portions of the two straps or bands are adapted to be looped, respectively, around opposite ends of the dash-board, and when applied they tightly embrace the same and draw the apron snugly 5 against opposite sides of the dash-board, and thus retain the apron seen red to the dashboard.

The removal of the apron from the dashboard, when desired, is accomplished with equal facility.

Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent,

The combination, with acarriage apron having the end lap, A, folded underagainst the lap A, of the elastic bands 8 8, each secured at one end to the lap A and at the opposite end to the lap A, and the intermediate portions of said bands adapted to be looped, respectively, around opposite ends of the dashboard, substantially as described and shown.
