Abstract

A baby dressing table pad replacement that can universally replace the original pad of a baby dressing table in a removable manner by means of a pocket provided by stitching on the underside of the pad or in the form of a flap hingedly connected by stitching to the beading of the underside of the pad at one side thereof and made into a pocket by the securement of laterally extending snap fastener straps secured to the opposite sides of the pad and adapted so that the pocket can either by extended over an extending lip of the table top or can be wrapped about a tubular open top type of baby dressing table. The pad may have a stiffening member when being used with an open top table and is further secured to the table top by straps extending from the bottom side of the pad. The second pad is hingedly connected at its top to the top edge of the first pad and itself has its own stiffening board for support when opened from the first pad and extended over an open table. Where the table has a top, this pad takes advantage of an extending lip that remains on the old dressing table top since the pad has the pocket which slips over the extending lip.

BABY DRESSING TABLE PAD REPLACEMENT This invention relates to a baby dressing table pad replacement adapted to replace the pad originally provided upon the table.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a baby dressing table replacement which can replace the original table pad and which is formed of two parts so that one can be hinged upon the other to be extended over the open table part or placed over the other pad part upon the stationary part when the table parts are closed upon one another.
It is another object of the invention to provide a dressing table' pad replacement formed of two parts with a simple means for securing the replacement pad to the table top by means of a simple pocket provided upon the underside of the pad adapted to be slipped over an extending lip of the table pad.
It is still another object of the invention to provide a two part baby dressing pad replacement which is adapted not only to be extended over a table top type of table but can also be extended over an open tubular frame type of table and made secure by simply securing a flap over one of the tubular parts and securing end straps to the sides of the pad, the mounting pocket being provided by means of the flap and the replacement pad being adaptable for either type of table.
It is a further object of the invention to provide dressing table pad replacements in which the pads themselves have the stiffening parts; either one of the parts having the stifi'ening part or both of the parts having stifi'ening parts when the pad is to be adapted for use on an open frame type of table.
Other objects of the invention are to provide a dressing table pad replacement, having the above objects in mind which are of easy and simple construction, easy to replace .upon the the table, durable, parts being adapted to be used upon one another, strap means for the securement of the pad to the table part, efficient and effective in use.
For a better understanding of the invention, reference may be had to the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which:

Referring now particularly to FIGS. 1 5, 15 represents a table pad replacement constructed according to the first form of the invention and of two parts 16 and 17 hingedly connected together at 18 and adapted to be folded into a closed position as shown in FIG. 1 or in an open position as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3. Each of these pads includes an urethane foam cushioner 19, square in plan, and having a substantial thickness to adequately support a baby being dressed upon the pad. This urethane foam cushioner 19 is enclosed by a covering 21 extending over the top and bottom and on'all four sides joined together along their edges by beading strips 22, the beading strips at the hinge junction being joined together by a stitching so that the pad parts are joined thereat.
As shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, a dressing table 23 comprising interslidable parts 24 and 25 having vertically extending legs 26 and 27, thepart 25 adapted to be extended from the part 24 to expose drawer spaces 29 and 30 of the respective parts 24 and 25. Such dressing tables are usually provided with a top 31 to which a regular pad that comes with the table is adhered so that the table top 31 becomes the stiffener for the cushion part. The cushion parts are usually provided with stifiener members but according to the present invention the table top stiffener is utilized for the pad part 16 which is provided on the underside of its covering within a pocket 32 adapted to receive edge 33 of the table top 31 and with securing straps 34 and 35 that are extended as best shown in FIG. 5 about the underside of the table top 31 and which has two ends that are secured together by a buckle 36. The two straps 34 and 35 are secured to the pad part by extending through openings 37 and 38 in the covering of the pad part and at laterally spaced positions thereunder, with the strap 34 being located adjacent to pocket 32 and the strap 35 being located adjacent the opposite side of the pad. The table top 31 thus provides the rigid support for the underside of the pad 16 and the pad 16 is without a stiffening board.
The pad 17 has a bottom stifiening board 39 lying between its covering 21 and the underside of the urethane foam pad material 19 so that the pad part 17 has its own stiffening in order to overlie the open drawer top 30 and be supported upon the legs 27 of the table part 25 when the table part 25 is extended from the stationary part 24. The legs 27 have bottom rollers 41 thereon to facilitate the opening and closing of the dressing table 23. The pad part 17 can be hinged to open or closed position and can be lifted to provide access to a drawer 30 in the table part 25. This pad part'l7 is provided with a strap 42 that extends through laterally spaced openings 43 in the top of the pad covering and can be extended above the baby and secured by its buckle 44 to hold infant on the extended table pad while the mother is working upon the'child. Thus it can be seen that there has been provided a dressing pad replacement that can be placed upon a baby dressing table after its original pad has been removed and wherein the pad will be supported throughout its entire length, one section being supported by the table top 31 itself and the other being supported by the stifiening board 39 that is supplied with the replacement pad part 17.
In FIG. 6 there is shown a table pad replacement indicated generally at 46 constructed similarly through the pad replacement 15 as above described and consisting of table pad parts 47 and 48 and hinged together at 49, but wherein each of the pad parts are provided with a stiffening board as indicated respectively at 51, 52 which can permit assembly of the pad replacement part to either a type table having an above table top such as 31 on its stationary part as above described and as shown in FIG. 8 or wherein the table is formed with a top tubular construction as shown in FIG. 10 at 53 and without a table top 31.
In order to permit the table pad replacement to be secured to either type table, the mounting pocket is afforded by a flap 54 stitched along bottom beading at 56 and is held closed against the underside of the pad by strap fasteners 57 and 58 having snap elements 59 on the side of the covering of pad and cooperating snap elements 61 carried by the ends of the strap.

The pad 47 is further secured to the table top 41 as above described by straps 34 and 35 as described in connection with the first form of the invention. The pad part 48 with its stiffening board 52 will be supported on the open top of the table partz25 in the same manner as above described, the pad board resting at its other end upon the legs 27 of the table part 25.
In FIG. 9 there is shown a pad part 47 constructed without a stiffening board 51 such as shown in FIG. 6 but as shown with the pad part 16 of the first form of the invention butin the table top 31 provides the stiffening board forthe pad 47 t In FIGS. and 11 there isshown the pad part 47 such as shown in FIGS. 6 and 7 including a stiffening board 53 secured to the open frame top 53 of an open stationary table part 62 formed of tubular members in which the attachment is made by the flap 54 about the tubularmember so that the pad part 47 and its stiffening board 51 overlies the open top of the table part 62. The flap 54 is then secured by its straps 57 and 58 secured by its snap fasten elements to one another and to the sides of the pad covering thereby making secure the pad part 47 to the table 62 and the pad part 47 will have been rendered by having its stiffening part 51 to providein effect a stiff table top for the table part 62 and with the pad part 48 that is hinged to the pad part 47 and having its own stiffening member 52, a

it should be apparent that there has been provided a baby dressing table pad replacement which can be attached to baby dressingtables and which can afford by itself the stifiening needed and wherein the attaching or replacing of the baby dressing pad can be effected in an easy and simple manner and can be readily removed for cleaning or :replacement by another pad replacement assembly. It will also be apparent that the pads are provided in two parts, one hinged to the other, and that upon the table parts being closed upon one another the pad part bearing the. stiffening member can be hinged upwardly onto the pad part removably secured to the i stationary table top 31 and with the table parts slid together to close the drawer spaces and provide thereby a compact,

What is claimed is: I
l. A baby dressing table pad replacement comprising two table pads hinged together, each of said pads including an urethane foam cushion filler and a covering extending about the sides of the tiller andbeaded along their edges to enclose the same, the heading along the side edges of the two pads and at the top thereof being joined by stitching to provide the hinge connection of the pad parts with one another, a first one of said parts having a pocket extending along one side edge adapted to be extended over the edge of a stationary table top part to mount the pad part thereupon, strap means to further connect the pad part to the said table part, and said other pad part having a stiffening board in the bottom thereof and adapted when opened up and extended over an open table top part to be self-supporting in itself.
2. A baby dressing table pad replacement as defined in claim-1 and said further fastening means including straps carried by the pads adjacent the pocket edge. of the pad and adjacent the opposite hinge edge of the pad that is adapted to be secured to the table top and having buckle means for securing the straps under the table top while permitting the hinge pad to be hinged upon the pad that is adapted to be secured to the table top.
3. A baby dressing table pad replacement as defined in claim 2 and wherein the first table pad part includes a bottom stiffenin board.
4. A baby dressing table pad replacement as defined in claim 3 and said mounting pocket being in the form of a flap hingedly connected at one edge of the underside of the pad and laterally extending fastener straps adapted to close the flap to provide the pocket and releasably securable to the sides of the pad.
5. A baby dressing table pad replacement as defined in claim 4 and said first mentioned pad having a stiffening board to render the pad adaptable to provide its own support upon an open tubular frame table top.

Claims (5)

1. A baby dressing table pad replacement comprising two table pads hinged together, each of said pads including an urethane foam cushion filler and a covering extending about the sides of the filler and beaded along their edges to enclose the same, the beading along the side edges of the two pads and at the top thereof being joined by stitching to provide the hinge connection of the pad parts with one another, a first one of said parts having a pocket extending along one side edge adapted to be extended over the edge of a stationary table top part to mount the pad part thereupon, strap means to further connect the pad part to the said table part, and said other pad part having a stiffening board in the bottom thereof and adapted when opened up and extended over an open table top part to be self-supporting in itself.
2. A baby dressing table pad replacement as defined in claim 1 and said further fastening means including straps carried by the pads adjacent the pocket edge of the pad and adjacent the opposite hinge edge of the pad that is adapted to be secured to the table top and having buckle means for securing the straps under the table top while permitting the hinge pad to be hinged upon the pad that is adapted to be secured to the table top.
3. A baby dressing table pad replacement as defined in claim 2 and wherein the first table pad part includes a bottom stiffening board.
4. A baby dressing table pad replacement as defined in claim 3 and said mounting pocket being in the form of a flap hingedly connected at one edge of the underside of the pad and laterally extending fastener straps adapted to close the flap to provide the pocket and releasably securable to the sides of the pad.
5. A baby dressing table pad replacement as defined in claim 4 and said first mentioned pad having a stiffening board to render the pad adaptable to provide its own support upon an open tubular frame table top.
