' 67w Apuzhm UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES A. SULLIVAN, OF WINDSOR, ONTARIO, CANADA.
TOOL FOR SETTING SHOE-LACE HOLDERS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 363,433, dated May 24,1887.
Application filed March 24, 1887.
To all whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, CHARLES A. SULLIVAN, of Windsor, in the county of Essex and Provinee of Ontario, Canada, have invented new and useful Improvements in Devices for Setting Shoe-Lace Holders; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in setting-instruments for shoe-lace holders; and the improvement I consists in the peculiar construction of the inliar construction shown in Fig. 5, and which Serial No. 232,269. (No model.)
sufiicient depth and proper form to admit the curved portion of the fastener. I preferably form this slot by cutting a rounding recess into the inner face ofthejaw and securing into this recess the plate G,which is provided with the lip H, forming the upper side of the curved slot.
In practice the shoe lace holder or support is inserted into the slot F of the lower jaw with the prongs upward and in such relation to the grooves in the upper jaw that they are bent inwardly and downwardly by pressing the jaws together. The leather being interposed between thejaws, the holder or support is thereby securely attached thereto.
What I claim as my invention is- 1. In a setting-instrument for a shoe-lace support or holder, the combination, with the members A B, of the upperjaw, 0, having the longitudinal grooves E, and the lower jaw, D, provided with an anvil at its front end and having the curved slot F in the side of the jaw, said slot extending inwardly into the inner face of the jaw, all arranged to operate substantially as described.
2. In a setting-instrmnent for a shoe-lace support or holder, the combination, with the members A B, of the upperjaw, C, having the longitudinal grooves E. and the lowerjaw, D,
having the curved slot F formed in the side of saidjaw, and the plate G, having the lip H, all arranged to operate substantially as
