DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT Referring now in detail to the drawing, 10 designates a snapshot display device embodying the invention. The display device 10 comprises a folder or stand 11. Said stand 11 comprises a rear rectangular section or leaf 12, a narrow top section 1.3 hinged to the upper end of said rear section, as at 14, and a front rectangular leaf or section 15 hinged at its upper end, as at 16, to the front of said top section. Sections 12, 13, 15 are of uniform width. Sections 12 and 15 are of similar height.
Section 12 has a stiffening rectangular board 16 disposed between sheets 17 and 18 of plastic. The sheets 17, 18 are heat fused together to form the hinge 14. They are also fused together at the sides 20', 21, and at the bottom 22, to fully enclose the stiffening board 16.
The top section 13 has a stiffening strip 23 disposed between extensions 17a, 18a of the sheets 17, 18, which are fused together at their ends 230. The front leaf 15 has a stiffening board 24 between extensions 17b, 18b of the sheet extensions 17a, 18a. Extensions 17b, 18b are fused together at their sides as at 25, 26; and at the bottom as at 27.
The front leaf has two top and two bottom window openings 30. The top windows are aligned with the bottom windows. The windows are rectangular. The stiffening board 24 has cut outs for the windows, and the sheet extensions 17b, 18b are formed with corresponding cut-outs and are fused at the inner edges 31 of the windows.
Means is provided to retain the leaves in upwardly and rearwardly slanted position. To this end, sheets 17, 18 have straps 32, 33 comprising strip extensions 17c, 18c of sheets 17, 18, extending horizontally from the fused joint 22. Strip extensions 17c, 18c are fused together at their side edges 32a and 33a and are equally spaced inwardly from the side edges 20', 21.
Extending from sheet strips 170, are sheet extensions 17d, 18d disposed on opposite sides of a stiffening board 35 forming a strut or brace section 36. The sheet extensions 17d, 18d are fused together and to sheet 17, as at 37, below the upper end of rear left section 12. The side edges of sheet extensions 17d, 18d are fused together at their sides as at 37, and at their lower edges 38 between and at the outer sides of straps 32, 33. Strut section 36 is as wide as, and is coextensive with, sections 12, 13, 15, from side to side. The strut section 36 is inclined upwardly and forwardly as seen in FIG. 1.
Means is provided to retain section in parallel spaced relation to section 12. To this end a metal channel shaped clip 4-0 grippingly engages the lower end edge 27 of section 15. The clip extends all the way across the lower end of section 15 and may be held against loosening by means of glue or any suitable adhesive or by clamping friction.
The clip 40 has an inner flange 41 to which a strip 42 of magnetic material is glued or otherwise attached. Thus strip 42 may comprise a rubber like material in which magnetic particles are embedded. The strip 42 is coextensive with the clip 40.
Attached to the front side of section 12 at its lower end, is a stick, piece or bar 45 of Wood or other stiff material. The piece of wood 45 may be of square crosssection. It may be glued or otherwise attached or adhered to the front surface of sheet 18 above the fused portion 22. Attached to the front face of stick 45, is a strip 48 of iron. The strip of iron may be attached to the piece of wood by glue or adhesive or in any other suitable manner. The combined thickness of the piece 45, the strip 47, the strip 42 and flange 41 of clip 40, is such that when magnetic strip 42 is magnetically attracted to the iron strip 47, section 15 is in parallel spaced relation to section 12.
Slidably and removably disposed between sections 12, 15, and resting on the upper surface of piece, bar or stick 45, are a pair of similar snapshot albums 50. Each album 50 comprises a plurality or pockets 51 on a wire binder 52. Each pocket 51 comprises a folded sheet 54 of transparent plastic material folded in half about an outer fold edge 55 to form two equal superposed sections 56. Said sections 56 have upper end edges 57 and lower end edges 58. Said sections are formed adjacent their edges 58, opposite the fold edge 55, with slots or openings through which the wire binder 52 passes. Within the pocket is a central divider or filler sheet 60. Two snapshots 61 may be inserted between the filler sheet and each of the sections 56.
One album is in back of the two window openings at the right side of the stand and the other album is in back of the left two window openings.
The two snapshots in front of the divider sheet 60 of the front most pocket of each holder can be seen through the window openings 30. To change the snapshots to be displayed, the pockets can be swung 360 around about the wire binder. The wire binders can be located at the outer edges of the stand or at the middle of the stand. Thus, it is possible to display any of the snapshots by turning the pockets and by placing the albums in the stand with the wire binder of each album at the right or the left.
Change of albums is facilitated by lifting or swinging the front section upwardly, thereby breaking the magnetic hold of magnetic strip 42 on iron strip 47.
The straps 32, 33 are fused transversely at the middle as at 65, with inverted U-shaped fused portions, so that when the stand is collapsed, the straps will fold upwardly and half of each extension 18c will fold against the other half, to facilitate swinging movement of section 36 toward the rear of section 12.
Since the albums 50 may both be fully inserted between sections 12 and 15, removal of said albums and replacement thereof, is facilitated by swinging section 15 loose from magnetic grip.
It will thus be seen that there is provided an article in which the several objects of this invention are achieved, and which is well adapted to meet the conditions of practical use.
