iMPROVEMENT IN PHOTOGRAPHIC AL-BUMS.
. To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, WILLIAM MATTHEWS, of the city and county of New York, and State of New York, have inventeda new and useful Improvement in Photographic Albums; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, in which- Figures l and 2 are elevations of the album complete. Fig. 3 represents one of the leaves taken from the album. Fig. 4 represents the photographic-picture frame as removed from the leaf to receive the picture. Figs. 5 and 6 are edge views of the leaf and frame.
My invention will obviate the present diffrculty of placing the picture in the album.
The frame represented by Fig. 4 can be withdrawn from the leaves of the album, in which the pictures can be placed with ease and held securely, and on transferring the frame to the leaf the pictures are brought to their exact place.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will'proceed to describe its construction and operation.
The picture-frame (see Fig. 4) is made with an opening in the center, the size of pictures, with paper extending over both sides and top of cavity, forming a groove for the pictures, which thoroughly secures them,with
an opening on each side of the lower end cut y out, as at B B, to readily admit the pictures.
The pictures are placed in the frame, one on each side,back to back. The frame is cut a little narrower at the top, 3 3, than at the bottom,which enables it to slide easy into the aperture. The frames containing the photographs may all be drawn from the book and examined separately, they being held secure in the frame. rlhe present Inode of photograph-albums admits only of the portraits being viewed collectively in the book.
Having thus fully described my invention, whatI claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. So constructing a photographic frame such as described that it may be withdrawn from the leaf ofthe album to insert the picture, as described.
2. The photographic frame, in combination with the album-leaf, as in the manner specified.
