SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 356,006, dated January 11, 1887. Application filed October 14, 1886. Serial No. 216,222. (No model.)
in Portable Fences, of which the following is porting the panels B.
-a clear, full, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making apart of this specification, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of a panel of fencing with my improvement attached. Fig. 2 is an end view of the same. Fig. 3 is a section through at x of Fig. 1.
My invention relates to portable fences; and it consists in the combination and arrangement of devices hereinafter explained and claimed.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe the eXact manner in which I have carried it out.
In the drawings, A represents the'post sup- This post consists of two inclined braces, a, clamping at their upper points a short block, a, perforated, as shown in Fig. 3, to permit the passage of the chain 12, by which the panel is locked to the upper part of the post. The lower parts of the braces a are secured together by the crossplates 0, between which, and near their longitudinal center, is pivoted the standard D, through the upper end of which is a perforation to permit the passage of the chain 1), which fence is run. After the panels have been ad- 40 justed with relation to the ground the chains 1) are inserted and properly secured.
The short chains b b are quickly secured in position by pins 0 passed through the links, or by other well-known means; after the parts I have been properly drawn together; and by simply knocking out. these pins the fence is ready for removing.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. In a portable fence, the post A, formed of the inclined braces a, and the perforated short block a, in combination with the lower cross-plates,0, and the pivoted and perforated standard D, all constructed to operate substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
2. The post A, formed of the inclined braces a and the perforated short block a], in combination with the panelsB, chains b b, and pins 0, all constructed and arranged substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
