WITNESSES ATTORNEYS TTED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY J. OULROF YVAKARUSA, INDIANA.
FENCE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 269,642, dated December 26, 1882.
Application filedOctober 17, 1892. (N0 model.)
act description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being bad to the taken through linemr, shown on Fig. 1.
annexed dra\vings,1nakiug a part of this specification, and to thelettcrs and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure lot the drawings is arepresentation of this invention, and shows a top view of part of a fence. Fig. 2 is a vertical section 3 is a perspective view.
This invention has relation to portable fences; and it consistsin the construction and novel arrangement of the alternate leaning panels composed of inclined posts and rails or wires, or both, the transverse coupling-pins through the abutting heads of the inclined posts, the transverse A-t'orm panels between the inclined posts, and the perforated blocks forming the feet of the posts, all as hereinafter set iorth.
In the accompanying drawings, the letter A designates the panels, which are alternately inclined, their end posts, B, abutting at their upper ends in A form, and being secured by means of transverse pins 0 passing through the abutting ends of said posts. These pins 0 are perforated through their ends, and are fastened by means of wire keys (I, so that the heads of the inclined posts are held firmly together, securing the leaning panels in position.
E represents the rails, which are bolted to the inclined posts. Wires may be employed instead of wooden rails, or in addition thereto, as indicated in the drawings.
F indicates a transverse A-form panel, which is located between the inclined posts forming each joint, and serving to close the opening or span of said posts. This transverse A-t'orm panel is secured to the inclined posts B by means of the transverse middle bar, 0, the ends of'which are sufficiently extended to be fastened to said posts B by the pins or bolts 0.
lrojecting'downward from the foot of each inclined post is a pin or stud, h, which engages a central pertora tion in a foot-block, G,which is located under the lower end of each post and forms a broad bearing therefor.
This fence will he found very steady and strong, and can be readily laid over uneven ground.
Having described this invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A portabe fence consisting of alternate leaning panels A, having their inclined end posts bolted together by transverse ke ed pins, the transverse A-torm panels between the inclined posts and securely fastened thereto, thefoot-pins hot theinclined posts, and the perforated foot-blocks engaging said pins, substantially as specified.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
