  • the present invention is concerned with a method of loading a charge into a horizontal coke oven with sucking of gas from the coking chamber into a gas collector through risers located both at the coke pusher side and the coke discharge side of the oven, the coking chamber being charged alternately through the extreme and middle doors thereof.
  • the method is characterized by the fact that when charging the coking chamber only through the doors located on the coke discharge side of the oven, all the other doors are kept closed, gases from the coking chamber are sucked through a riser located on the coke pusher side of the coke oven.
  • all the other doors are kept closed, gases from the coking chamber are sucked only through a riser located on the coke discharge side of the oven, whereafter the coking chamber is loaded through doors located in the central portion of the oven, all the other doors being kept closed during this time, and gas is then sucked simultaneously through both rlsers.
  • the advantage of the proposed method consists in the fact that the place where the gas is sucked from the coking chamber is at a maximum remote location from the place where the charge materials are loaded into the chamber. Owing to this fact, a smaller amount of coal particles is entrained by the gas stream, while the coal particles entrained have time to drop from the gas stream in its flow path to the risers.

  • valve 8 in the riser 3 Since the valve 8 in the riser 3 is open, an insignificant portion of gases will be supplied at a small rate into the gas collector 5. Owing to the fact that the rate of gas in the riser 3 is small, particles of coal will be entrained by the gas stream from the charge.
  • the door 11 After emptying the hopper 14, the door 11 is closed, the injection device 6 of the riser 2 is deactuated, and injection device 7 is simultaneously actuated on the riser 3.
  • the door 9 is opened, and the charge from the hopper 12 is supplied into the coking chamber, the gas being thereby sucked through the riser 3 located on the coke discharge side of the oven into the gas collector 5.
  • Part ⁇ 'of gases will be supplied into gas collector 4, in the manner described hereinabove in the case where the charge materials were charged through the door 11. Then, when the entire charge is discharged from the hopper 12, the door 9 is closed.

  • the application of the present invention allows coal tar with a permissible ash content to be obtained.
  • a method of loading charge materials into a coking chamber of a horizontal coke oven having gas collectors at opposite sides thereof connected to the chambers through risers, and charging doors at the opposite sides of the chamber and in the center thereof comprising charging the chamber with charge materials through the doors at one side of the chamber while the other doors are kept closed, producing a suction only in the riser at the opposite end of the chamber to cause gases in the chamber to travel the length thereof for discharge in the gas collector associated with the riser under suction, then charging the chamber with charge materials through the doors at the other side of the cham- Yber while all other doorsV are closed, producing a suction both risers.
