Description
I UNITED STATES T a.ZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J OHANN TREBENT- SOHECK, a subject of the Emperor of Austria- Hungary, residing at Donawitz, Austria-Hungary, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pencil and Slate Pencil Holders; andI do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the nvention, such as will enable others skilled 0 1n the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and toletters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification. This invention relates to pencil holders which are provided with a pusher for forcing out the slate-pencil or lead-pencil held within the tubular casing of the holder.
The said invention consists in the combina- 0 tion of a tubular casing having an annular internal depression or shoulder with a pusher having a collar or shoulder, substantially as hereinafter set forth.
Figure 1 represents a view in elevation of a pencil-holder embodying my invention. Fig. 2 represents a longitudinal section of the penoil-holder. Fig. 3 represents an elevation of another form of the pencil holder; Fig. 4. a similar view of another form of the pencil- 0 holder.
The lead-pencil or slate-pencil holder represented in Fig. 1 consists, chiefly, of two partsnamely, of the tube a,which contains the lead or slate pencil a, and of the out-pusher or ex- 35 peller b.
Similar letters refer to similar partsthroughout the several views.
The cylindrical metal tube a is either quite closed or else provided with a slit, t, running 0 through the whole length, Fig. 1. In the latter case the tube a is made of sheet-steel, in order to render it elastic enough to retain its width in spite of the-repeated insertingand removing of the lead or slate pencil a. In the former case the tube can be made of common tin, and thefront end of itthe insertion endis made in the shape of a funnel to facilitate the putting in of the pencil. If, however, the

, tube is made of sheet-steel, then the insertion end is split in several places, Fig. 3.
To make the pencil easily removable from the tube at, even when it is firmly gripped by the latter, and to prevent the children hurting their hands in future, the inventorhas,

and whiehstrikeagainsnam annular internal shoulder or depression, d o f, the tube a If the pencil should happen to be so deep in the tube as not to be removable with the fingers, then the part of the out-pusher projecting beyond the tube a is pressed against the pencil,
. which causes the latter to fall out of itself. If
the tube a is made of sheet-steel and provided, as mentioned above, with a slit, t, the knob c of the out-pusherbcan easily be forced through the notch or depression d of the tube a without putting the latter out of shape, Figs. 1 to 4.
In the case of slit tubes an out-pusher made of steel wire can be used, which is 'put into the tube a. before the latter is finished, or, rather, before it is rolled round.
I am aware that it is not broadly new to provide a pencil-holder case with an internal 8o projection and a pusher having shoulders which limit its play by striking against the latter. This I do not claim.
I claim as my invention-- In apencil-holderla tube having an annular internal shoulder-depression, d,in combination with a pusher having two shoulders arranged wopeaeh side of said depression, to serve a s s tops in co n'nctiontlirewith, -sub'stantiall y as set forth.
' In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
