Description

R. R. BRIGNAC COPY PAPER HOLDER ATTACHMENT Filed April 6. 1967 v w H .l f i 32 INVENTOR.
United States Patent 3,462,139 COPY PAPER HOLDER ATTACHMENT Ron R. Brignac, New Orleans, La., assignor of forty-six and one-half percent to William A. Grice, and seven percent to Carroll L. Fogleman, both of Lake Charles,
Filed Apr. 6, 1967, Ser. No. 628,930 Int. Cl. B65h 1/00 US. Cl. 271-61 1 Claim ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A copy paper holder attachment for mounting on copy or Xerox type machines and the like in which an H-shaped frame of transparent plastic material has the cross-member thereof divided into paper-receiving sections, the central cross-member having a back wall, and in which there are L-shaped foot projections extending outwardly from each of the lower ends of the opposite upstanding sides of the H-shaped frame.
The present invention relates to a copy paper holder attachment mounted on copy machines so that it may be adjustably positioned or capable of being slid along the supporting surface of the copy machine. More particularly, the invention relates to providing compartments along the cross-member of the paper holder, as well as providing L-shaped or retaining means in the form of foot projections extending outwardly from the lower ends of the opposite upstanding sides to avail and provide a sliding relation with the supporting surface of the copy machine.
An object, therefore, of the present invention is to provide a copy paper holder, or what is known in the trade to applicant as a Copy-Caddy, in which the copy paper holder is slidably supported upon solely the copy machine.
A further object of the present invention is to provide an H-shaped frame with a sectional divider or dividers disposed along the cross-member thereof, and in which there are L-shaped foot projection means extending from the lower ends of the opposite upstanding sides, it being realized that the exact details, arrangements, size of the flat surfaces, may vary to a larger width or smaller width or length dimension, depending upon the size of the copy work being placed on it. At least one divider may be dis posed on the horizontal cross-member, and the Copy- Caddy may be adapted to fit the tops of many different copy machines to provide added work space for supporting or holding materials used in the copying process, and on which to place materials after they have been processed by the copy machine.
The above and other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent upon full consideration of the following detailed description and accompanying drawings, in which:
FIGURE 1 is a perspective view showing the Copy- Caddy or copy paper holder embodying the preferred concepts of the present invention.
FIGURE 2 is an enlarged front elevational view taken from the right and side of FIGURE 1, showing the construction of the copy paper holder, and
FIGURE 3 is a partial cross-sectional view taken along line 33 of FIGURE 1.
Referring now to the drawings, there is shown a copy machine or the like, shown in part, on which there is adapted to be mounted an I-l-shaped frame 12 constructed 3,462,139 Patented Aug. 19, 1969 of transparent material such as glass, plastic, or the like, and having essentially a cross-member 14 which extends transversely and horizontally between opposite upstanding sides 16, 16. Thus, it is seen that the cross-member 14 and the upstanding sides 16, 16 form the H-shaped frame 12. One or more, and at least one, vertical divider member 20 is disposed parallel and between the opposite upstanding sides on the upper surface of the cross-member 14. This is to provide division or spaces in which the paper is seen to be disposed.
There is provided a back or rear panel or edge member 24 which closes out the sides of the surface formed by the cross-member 14 so that a contiguous side means is provided about three sides of the cross-member 14, as shown. The intermediate divider member 20 is seen to be held in place by screws or rivet means such as rivets 28, 28, which are fitted into predrilled holes.
Extending substantially throughout the entire foot of each of the opposite upstanding sides 16, 16, there is an L- shaped foot projection 30, 30, which is disposed outwardly as seen from the foot of the lower ends of the upstanding sides and comprises a horizontal section 32, and a vertical component 34. The dimension of the L- shaped projections 30, 30, is sufiicient to encompass the transverse dimension of the copy machine 10, and is of sufficient degree of looseness that it is adapted to slide along the surface which supports the copy paper holder '12 on the copy machine 10.
Additional embodiments of the invention in this specification will occur to others and therefore it is intended that the scope of the invention be limited only by the appended claims and not by the embodiment described hereinabove. Accordingly, reference should be made to the following claim in determining the full scope of the invention.
What is claimed is:
1. A copy paper holder attachment mounted on copy machines and the like comprising an H-shaped frame of transparent material construction having a cross-member and opposite upstanding sides, at least one divider member intermediately disposed between and parallel to the opposite upstanding sides and being mounted on the upper surface of the cross-member, the intermediate divider member being held in place by rivet means, L-shaped inverted foot projections extending outwardly from each of the lower ends of the opposite upstanding sides to avail a sliding relation therewith to a copy machine, and a rear edge member closing off the surface of said cross-member and forming a contiguous side with the upper portions of the opposite upstanding sides throughout three sides of the cross-member.
