REVERSIBLE CAP.

Be it known that I, DAVID SeHLEsINGER, of the city, county, and State of New York, haveinvented certain new and useful Improvements in Reversible Caps,of which the i`ollowing is a specification.

This invention relates to a reversible cap of that class in which two bodies of different material are cmployed-one of cloth, the other of water-proof materialmso that the cap can be conveniently reversed according to the state of the weather; and the invention consists of a reversible cap composed of two separate bodies of different material, and a re-enforeing band, to which the first half of one body and the rear half of the other body is attached, so that the remaining half of each body can be turned over the fixed half of the other body.

The invention consists,secondly,of a reversible cap composed of two bodies of different material, and provided with a necleprotector at the rear part, which is adapted to be folded up over the rear part of the cap and attached to the crown of the same.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a side elevation of a cap with the cloth body at the outside. FigZis a vertical longitudinal section ofthe same; and Fig. 3 is a side view of the cap, the water-proof body at the outside showing, for use in bad weather, and with the neck-protector in lowered position.

ll/[yimproved reversible cap is made of two main parts, A A', one of which is made of a suitable textile fabric, and the other of glazed water-proof material, such as rubber cloth. The main parts or bodies A A are made of the same size, each being composed of atop piece or crown and a side band. The bodies A A are stitched together at diametrically opposite points at the lower parts ofthe sides,as shown at a a in Figs. l and 3, so that they cannot get detached from each other in reversing. The bodyA is attached byits front halfto thcfront part of a stiffened band, C, of pasteboard or other suitable material, while the rear half of the body A is attached to the rear half of the re-enforcing band C. The remaining halves of the bodies A and A are adapted to be respect ivelyreversed one over the other, as the case may be.

NVhen the cap is to be worn asa cloth cap, the rear half of the body A is turned down over the rear part of the body A and band C, and attached by a hook, d,which is secured to the lower rear edge of the body A to the reenforcing band C, as shown in Fig. 2. By releasing the hook and reversing the cap-that is to say, by placing the rear part of the cloth body A to the front part of the saine-the glazed body is exposechso as to cover the cloth body,as shown in Fig.3.

To the rear part of the glazed body A is ap* plied a iieclepioteetor, D, also of 'water-proof materiahthe side parts of which are first folded over upon the body of the protector, as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 3, and then the whole folded up over the rear part and crown of the cap, and attached by a hool; and eye, e e', or other fastening device,to the crown, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3. rlhe neck-protector D serves in rainy weather to shed the water and protect the neck.` The flexibility of the cloth and glazed bodies facilitates the easy reversing of the cap,with either body at the outside, as required.

Having thus described my invention,I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Pat` entd l. A reversible cap consisting of two bodies of different material, said bodies being con nected at two diametrically-opposite peints of their sides, and of a re-en forcing band, to which the front half of one body and the rear half of the other body `is attached, while the remaining half of each body is adapted to be reversed over the iixed half of the other body, substantially as set forth.

2. A reversible cap consisting of two bodies, A A, of different material, said bodies being connected at diametrieally-opposite points a a of their sides, and of a re-enibreing band7 C, to which the front part of one body and the rear half of the other body are attached,while the remaining halves are adapted. to be reversed, the rear part of the body A having a hook at the lower edge for engaging the lower rear part of the cap, substantially as set forth.

3. The combination, with a reversible cap Composed of a re-enforeing band, and of two bodies of different material, said bodies being connected to the band at their sides, the front half of one body and the rear half of the other body being attached to said band,\vhile their other halves are reversible, of a neckprotector attached to the fixed rear part of one body, and adapted t0 be folded over the crown of the fixed rear part, and retained between it and the reversible parts of both bodies7 substantially as set forth.

4. The combination, With a reversible cap composed of two bodies of different material, said bodies being connected at diametrieallyV opposite points of their sides7 and a re-enforeing band, to which the front half of one body and the rear half of the other body are attaehed, While the other halves of said bodies are reversible, of a neck-protector attached to the fixed rear part of one body, and devices for retaining the protector in folded position on said fixed rear part, so that it can be eovered by the reversible portion of the other body, substantially as set forth.
