UNITED f STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MARTIN BOURKE, OF YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO.
SASHv-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 345,665, dated July 20, 1886A.
Applicativi] filed November 1l, 1885.
zen of the United States, residing at YoungsV town, in the county of Mahoning and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sash Holders; and I do hereby declare that the following is afull, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to t-he annexed drawings, making a part of this specication, and tothe letters and gures of reference marked thereon.
This invention has relation to improvements in sash-holders, and more particularly as an improvement on Letters Patent granted tome December 1, 1885, No.33l,370; and the invention consists iu the construction and arrange ment of parts, as will be hereinafter described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.'
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a reverse plan View of my improved sashholder partly in section, withV the base-plate removed. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the upper side of the base-plate. Fig. 3 is a detail view, partly in section, of the bearingplate, with the rectangularelastic block couneeted thereto; and Fig. 4 a detail view in perspective of the rect-angular elastic block.
In the drawings, A represents the case of the sash-holder, of any of the usual forms, and B is the eccentric, having the handle C and rim c cast integral therewith. The case A. is also provided with langes d, having lugs d, for a purpose hereinafter explained.
D represents the bearing-plate, having a dovetail recess, g, to receive the elastic block H, which is sprung into the recess, as shown in the drawings, thel face of which is parallel with the plate D.
On the rear side of the bearingplate D, and
Serial No. 182,446. (No model.)
cast therewith, is a shank or extension, E, having a pin, I), and shoulder b', which forms a recess, b2, whereby the pin and shoulder engage the inner and outer surfaces of the rim .c of the eccentric, by means of which the elastic block H is thrown into and out of engagement with the sash by positive action.
F is the base-p1ate, having cast upon its inner side V-shaped lugs e, which receive the lugs d on the case A. These parts serve to lock the case A and base-plate F together. A single screw, a, is also passed through a perforatio'n of the case, plate, and eccentric B, by means of which the eccentric is pivoted for operation. Thev anges d of the case A abut squarely against the open ends of said lugs e when the parts A and F are together.
The baseplate F is cast with earsf, which have holes for the screws to fasten the device .to the window-sash.
rHaving described my invention, what I claim isf,
In a sash-holder,substantially as described, the combination, with the cam B and its lever C, and with the plate D, having rubber block H dovetailed in its face, of the basefplate F, having projecting V-shaped lugs e, the capplate A, having anges d', with lugs d, the said lugs d being received within the recesses of the lugs e, and the two plates A F being heldtogether by the single screw a, which serves as the pivot for the cam, and the lugs c serving as guides, as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
MARTIN BOURKE.
Vitnesses:
YV. E. GHAEFEE, M. P. CALLAN.
