Be it known that I, FRANK C. CHURCHILL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lebanon, in the county of Grafton and State of New Hampshire, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ovcrall-Straps,of which the following is a specification.

My invention consists in the method of forming the overall-strap, which consists in double-folding both edges of a continuous strip of material upon the body thereof, and abutting the said folded edges at the center and stitching both edges to the body, whereby a strap of three thicknesses is formed.

The object of this invention is to provide an overallstrap of superior strength, and also one which shall remain flat, whether it be cut crosswise, lengthwise, or diagonally of the cloth. It may be here mentioned that to cut the goods lengthwise is more preferable, as the width of the cloth is not always suflicient to obtain the required length of strap, which necessarily varies with the different sizes of overalls.

In the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, Figure 1 shows a portion of a pair of overalls with my improved straps in their relative positions. Fig. 2 is a detailed view of one of the improved straps before being folded, the dotted lines showing where the edges are first turned over.

Fig.3 is a like View of the strap as when folded and stitched. Fig. 4 shows a cross-section of a strap folded loosely to fully illustrate its formation.

A is'the strap, which is cutthrice or about three times the width of'a finished strap, in forming which the edges u may be first folded over, about as indicated by dotted lines in Fig. 2. Then each of said parts u may be turned under half their width, which causes their double or folded edges to meet at about midway from either side of the strap, when each folded or double edge may be stitched, as indicated in Fig. 3, right through all three thicknesses.

Having described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-

The method of forming an overall-strap, which consists in d0nble-foiding both edges of a continuous strip of material upon the body thereof, and abutting the said folded edges at the center and stitching both edges to the body, whereby a strap of three thicknesses is formed, as set forth.
