HOLDER FOR SPINNING-RINGS.

To all whom, it may concern:

Be it known that I, CHARLES E. TRow- BRIDGE, a citizen of the United States. residing at Vhitinsville, in the county of forcester and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Holders for Spinning-Rings, of which the following is a specification, 'reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.

My invention relates to holders or receivers for spinning-rings; and the objects of my improvements are to provide a holder having a broad and continuous fiat surface to rest upon the rail and a bearing to uniformly support the ring all around its lower edge and clasp it exteriorly at all points thereof, and thus prevent the springing and flattening of the ring or its accidental disconnection from the holder as the result of a side concussion.- I attain these 2o objects by the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l is a top View of the ring and holder on an enlarged scale. Fig. 2 is a vertical central section of the same. Eig. 3 is a top View of the holder with the ring removed.

The holder is specially applicable to the duplex race-ring A, made with two circular races, a., united by a short tubular neck or connection, au. This ring is not split transversely to 3o facilitate its introduction into the holder. Neither is the latter split transversely for the same purpose.

The holder B consists of a flat annnlus having two notches, b, extending a short distance in its edge, to receive the screws by which it is fastened to the rail of the spinning-frame. The inner edge of the annnlus is flanged upward at b2, uniformly all around, and the upper edge of the iiange b2, after having been 4o turned of a uniform height, 4has its inner face grooved or lierfed and slightly undercut, to produce a circular shoulder, b3, to support the ring A, and a thin edge or flange, b", to

v encircle the edge of the bottom race, a, of the ring A, and after said ring has been placed in 4 5 position with its bottom liange on the circular shoulder b3 the thin flange b is pressed down firmly against and slightly upon the bottom race, and the ring A has thus its whole bottom periphery secured to its holder. ly this con- 5o struction the ring is held securely all around, and is not liable to become disconnected from the holder by a side blow. The holder has no projection upon its vertical flange, against which dust and lint could collect. It is inexpensive,and bearing uniformly all around the ring prevents it from flattening, as it is important that the ring-should remain perfectly round.

Although a duplex race-ring is shown in 6o connection with the holder, it is evident that if the bottom inner llange ofthe race-ring were dispensed with its outer flange would still be as securely .retained by my improved holder.

Having now fully described my invention,

I claim- In combination with a race-ring iianged at thc top and bottom,the holder B, consisting of a thin flat annnlus provided with peripheral notch es b,and having i-ts inner edge turned 7o up uniformly all around and cut in the inner side of said edge, a circular kerfed groove having a shoulder, b, to support the race-ring, and a thin edge or flange, b", to encircle the bottom vfiange of said race-ring and press upon 7 5 and clamp it uniformly, substantially as and for the purpose described.
