  • ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for desizing, scouring and bleaching cotton and polyester fabrics in a continuous operation comprised of the steps of impregnating the fabric with a cold aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide at a concentration of between 30 to 80 grams per liter, passing the fabric through a chamber filled with saturated steam at atmospheric pressure and at a temperature between 90 and 100 C. for a period of time not exceeding 20 minutes, immersing the fabric in water at about 90 C., steaming the fabric for about 2 to 3 minutes, washing the fabric in water at least 3 separate times each time for a very brief period and at a progressively lower temperature and squeezing the fabric to remove a high percentage of the moisture.
