United States Patent Ofiice 3,339,561 Patented Sept. 5, 1967 3,339,561 EYEBROW CURLER Lillian L. Brickner, 13712 Hanwell Ave., Bellflower, Calif. 90706 Filed June 15, 1964, Ser. No. 375,113 3 Claims. (Cl. 13232) ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An eyebrow curler having an upper jaw member'of generally semi-elliptical shape including a layer of rubber covering the sides of the jaw member and having a serrated edge cooperating With a lower jaw member having one concave side cooperating with the lower jaw member and a serrated edge adapted to mesh with the serrated edge of the upper jaw member and pivotally connected handle elements secured to the respective jaw members and capable of moving the jaw members between open and closed positions.
My invention relates to improvements in eyebrow curlers, and particularly the application to the use of bushy eyebrows of persons of the female sex; and the objects of my invention are, first, to provide an eyebrow curler which will improve the cosmetic effect of the face by managing bushy eyebrows, giving the hair a uniform direction; second, to provide an eyebrow curler which will effectively grip and manage the hair of the eyebrow enhancing their beauty; third, to provide an eyebrow curler which is easy to manipulate and can be inexpensively manufactured.
Additional objects, together with further advantages derived in utilizing the present invention, will become apparent from the following detailed description thereof taken together with the accompanying drawing forming part of the specification, in which:
FIGURE 1 is an elevational end view of my eyebrow curler;
FIGURE 2 is a fragmentary view in perspective of my eyebrow curler;
FIGURE 3 is a fragmentary cross-sectional view of my device taken on line 33 of FIGURE 2;
FIGURE 4 is a view in the perspective of my device being applied to an eyebrow; and
FIGURE 5 is a fragmentary view in perspective of a modified form of my device.
Similar numerals refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
The invention described in FIGURES l, 2, 3, and 4 of the accompanying drawing comprises generally handles, 10, pivotally secured to each other by a suitable rivet, 11, provided at their lower ends with finger receiving loops, 12, 12, and at their upper ends with suitable jaws, 13, 14, hereinafter more fully described.
The upper jaw, 13, is generally of semi-elliptical shape in cross-section covered with a layer of rubber, 15, and of the length of the average eyebrow, having one side afiixed to a handle, 10, and having a flat top surface, 16, with a serrated edge, 17, adjacent to said surface at the side opposite to the side to which the handle, 10, is attached.
The serrated edge comprises a plurality of straight-sided teeth.
The lower jaw, 14, has a rounded side, 18, to which a handle, 10, is attached. The jaw has a Hat top surface, 19, and a serrated edge, 20, adjacent to said top surface on the side opposite to the side to which the handle is attached and has a third downwardly directed concave side, 21, suitable to co-act with one side of the upper jaw.
In the normally closed position the flat surface of the two jaws described form one plane and the serrated edges mesh.
A layer of rubber, 22, is provided on the concave side of the lower'jaw.
In operation the flat surface of the two jaws in a partially open position is pressed against the skin underlying the eyebrow and the device is then closed causing the individual hairs of the eyebrow to be compressed between the two jaws and to be shaped along the concave side of the lower jaw then in alignment with the convex semi-elliptical surface of the upper jaw.
In FIGURE 5, I show a modified form of my invention in which the flat surface, 23, of the jaws is slightly concave in shape following the shape and curvature of the normal eyebrow.
It is understood that various forms of my invention may be used or utilized embodying the principles of my invention, without departing from the spirit of my invention.
I claim:
