ATI'ORN EY J.. EHMANN 1,795,482
EYELASH AND EYEBROW coLoRER Filed April 8. 1929 Patented Mar. 10, 1931 JULIUS EHMANN, OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY EYELASH AND EYEBROW COLORER Application filed April 8,
It is common to apply coloring matter to the eyelashes and eyebrows to make them stand out more distinctly and enhance their beauty, and the coloring matter commonly employed is preferably of two shades black or brownto correspond with the color of the hair of the individual.
In applying the coloring matter, extreme care must be exercised, because if incorrectly applied, it will detract rather than enhance the a pearance. It is an o ject of my invention to provide a device for applying coloring matter to eyelashes or eyebrows, which is so constructed as'to conform to the configuration of the parts to be colored and is adapted to apply the coloring matter rapidly and accurately, without injur Y A further 0 ject of my invention is to produce a device of this character, which is easy to manipulate, is composed of essentially few parts, and is susceptible of rapid and economical manufacture from any suitable metal by the use of simple tools and dies.
These and other advantages, which will later appear, are accomplished by the simple and practical construction and arran ement of parts hereinafter described and ex ibited' in the accompanying drawings, and in which: I
Figure 1 represents a perspective view of my improved device.
Figure 2 represents a side elevational view of the same, showing its application to the face, shown in dotted lines.
Figure 3 represents a front view of the handle jaw.
Figure 4 represents a perspective view of the color-receiving element, preferably in 40 the form of a rubber tube.
' Figure 5 represents a top plan view of my im roved device.
s shown in the drawings, my device consists essentially of the handles or tongs 1 and 2, pivotally secured together at 3, provided at their lower ends, ceiving elements 4, and at their upper ends with suitable jaws 5 designed to recelve color applicators 6,lpreferably in the form of 5 pieces of soft rubber tube. The jaws 5 are elevational with finger-re- 1929. Serial No.
provided with integral extensions preferably curved to conform to the configuration or outline ofthe parts to be colored and the integral extensions are separated by the gap 7 sothat the-color applicators 6 may be secured thereon as clearly ures 2 and 5.
illustrated in Fig- The coloring matter is preferably placed on thehigh portions of the'inner'or opposed surfaces of the applicators 6, and in operation, the handles 1 and 2 are drawn together as descriptive as restrictive and illustrative only, and not or limitative of the invention,
of'which obviously an embodiment may be constructed including many modifications without departing from the general scope herein indicated and denoted in the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. A device for applying coloring matter to hair comprising tong members pivoted toether-fa fork on each tong member, the fork ing provided with elements directed to therebetween,
, ward but short of each other, providing a gap and resilient members mounted on the fork elements and bridging the gap.
2. A device for applying coloring matter to hair, comprising two tong members iv-r oted together, a fork on eachtong mcxn er, the fork being provided with elements directed towards but being short of each other, providing a gap therebetween, and resilient members inserted on the fork elements through the gap therebetween and bridging the gap. This specification signed this 1st day of April, 1929.
