L. BRIDGE,
BRACKET. No. 330,672. Patented Nov. 17, 1885;

Mrs STATES LEWIS BRIDGE, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
BRACKET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 330,672, dated November 1'7, 1885.
Application filed January 27, 1885. Serial No. 154,127. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, LEwIs BRIDGE, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of Philadelphia, in the State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Brackets; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective, and Fig. 2 a vertical transverse detail section.
My invention has for its object to provide a bracket designed and adapted to form a support for a shelf, sink, trough, or other fixture or article, said bracket having means whereby it may have the bolt by which it is secured to the article it supports adjustable, so that said bolt may be shifted, as occasion may require, to bring it into alignment or registration with the bolt hole or opening in the part supported.
My invention consists, essentially, in the combination, with a supporting-bracket having a slot, of a bolt-holder movable thereon and having a fastening device for securing said holder in any adjusted position.
Referring to the accompanying drawings,
A designates a bracket composed of the two sides a and b, which are arranged at right angles to each other, forming aninverted L, and connected by a brace or web, 0, which may be of any suitable design.
D represents a slot in the bracket, parallel with the side a, which side is the one upon which rests the shelf, sink, or other article, H, to be supported, the other side, 12, being designed to rest against a wall or fixture, and be secured thereto by screws passed through the ears I) or in any other suitable manner.
E E are bolts, which pass through the slot D and are each provided with a nut, e,whereby they are fastened in any desired position in said slot. Said bolts pass through the ears 7 f of a bolt-holder, F, which consists of a half box or bearing having avertical opening or channel, 9, for the passage of a bolt, G. This latter bolt is designed to pass through an opening, h, formed for its reception in the article H to be supported on the bracketfor example, through a hole in the flange of a sink. Whatever the distance this opening may be from the inner or the outer edge of the supported article, the bolt-holder and its bolt G may be brought into alignment or registration with it by moving said holder along the side of the bracket, the nuts 6 6 being tightened after the required adjustment has been obtained. The bolt G has a nut, g, which should also be turned on tight after said bolt has been passed down through the supported article and the holder F.
\Vhat I claim as my invention is- The combination, with a supporting-bracket having a slot, D, of a sliding adjustable boltholder sustained on and fastened to said bracket by bolts E E, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony that I claimthe foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 21st day of January, 1885.
LEW'IS BRIDGE.
