SAFETY-B ELT.
SPECIFICATION Application filed March 5, 1855. Serial N0. 157,823. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FERDINAND KOOPMANN, of the city of Munich, Germany, have invented a new and Improved Safety-Belt, of which the following specification is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to a belt for holding children in their cradles without impeding the freedom of their movements. The belt may also be used for securing delirious patients, and for similar purposes.
The invention consists in a belt having two flaps adapted to be folded around the body of the child or patient, also, in the details of construction hereinafter more fully pointed out.
The drawing represents of my improved belt.
The letter A represents a belt made of soft leather, linen, or similar material. a a are strings attached to its ends, by which it may be tied to abed or carriage. b b are two flaps projecting upward from the belt A. The flap a perspective view bis permanently attached to the belt, while the flap b is secured to a loop, a, which is slipped over the belt and is free to slide thereon. The free edges of the flaps b b are provided with buttons and slits, so that they can be fastened together.
In use the belt A is placed 'upon the mattress and tied at its ends by means of the strings a a. The child is then laid on the belt between theflapsb b, which are then buttoned over its body. In this way the child is held in place, while at the sametime it has the free use of its limbs.
I claim as my invention- 1. The combination of beltA with the flaps b b,secured to one of its sides, and adapted to be connected, substantially as herein shown and described.
2. The combination of belt A with fasten ing devices a a, flap 1), and flap 1), secured to loop 0, substantially as specified.
