(Cl. 40-2) This invention relates to a means of conveniently and safely storing a power cord and plug on an appliance when the latter is not in use, being prepared to be brought to a repairman or when being prepared for return to the owner after its repair.

The customary manner of treating a power cord when not in use is to pemit it to hang from the appliance, or at best to form a hank therein and to permit the plug to hang, sometimes reaching the floor. The plug is then frequently stepped upon and damaged, or the cord caught on to some object, causing the appliance to be dropped and causing damage to it. Dangling cords are also unsightly.

An object therefore of this invention is to provide a tag means for hanging a power cord on an appliance which means combines a job ticket and a claim check which can be detached by the repairman.

Another object is to prevent damage to the plug caused by stepping on it.

Another object is to provide a means of hanging a cord and plug that will securely hold them closely to the appliance.

Another object is to provide a space for advertising.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent from the following specification and appended drawings.

FIG. 1 is a front-face view of a combined job ticket and cord holder, including a tab for holding the plug, a record card and a claim check.

FIG. 2 is an enlarged section taken at 22 of FIG. 1.

FIG. 3 is a fragmentary view looking at the back of the invention of FIG. 1 and showing it being prepared to be aflixed to an appliance.

FIG. 4 is a rear view of a modification of FIG. 1, not embracing the job ticket or claim check, and being prepared to be applied to an appliance to merely hold the plug and cord.

FIG. 5 is an enlarged section taken at 5-5 of FIG. 3.

FIG. 6 is an enlarged section taken at 66 of FIG. 4.

FIG. 7 illustrates the tab portion of FIG. 1 as secured to an appliance with the plug in place and the tab secured to the appliance; the record card and claim check being removed but shown in dotted lines.

The invention comprises a sheet of fibre board or card material 10 such as used for job tickets, and of a size that permits the necessary information to be entered thereon, in addition to advertising.

Ticket 10 comprises a tab portion 12 which can carry printing and having a front face 14, a record card16 and a claim check or ticket 18.

Perforations

20 and 22 permit detachment of record card 16 and claim ticket 18 from tab portion 12 and from each other. The claim ticket 18 is given to the appliance owner, after the necessary information has been added thereto. Tab 12, record card 16 and claim ticket 18 all are provided with the necessary information identification such as a serial number.

Tab portion 12 is provided with an adhesive coating on the back thereof, indicated 24, which is protected by a shield 26 which terminates at 28, and which shield is peelable when the tab is to be affixed to an appliance.

36 and 38, and are pierced so as to substantially remove no material from the fibre board. Slits 30 and 32 terminate atboth ends in pairs of diverging slits 4054 which are also produced without substantially removing material.

When ticket 10 is to be used, the usual information is entered thereon, the record card 16 and the claim ticket 18 are detached from the tab portion 12. Shield 26 is then peeled from the adhesive 24 and the tab 12 is afiixed to the appliance and bending the portion of the tab 12, not having the adhesive, in an outward direction, as shown in FIG. 7. The cord C is then formed into a hank H and the plug 34 is mounted on tab 12 by inserting the

30 and 32 and, in addition, to secure the plug 34 against falling from the tab 12.

The tab 58 of FIG. 4 does not include the record card and claim ticket of FIG. 1, being merely intended to provide a support for the plug and cord when not in use, and possibly carry advertising. Tab 58 comprises the usual fibre board panel 60 of the shape shown. An adhesive area 62 covers a portion of the back of the panel 60, the latter being protected until used by a shield 64 terminating at 66 as shown in FIG. 4. Panel 60 is provided centrally between the edge 66 and the lower edge of the tab with a pair of slits 68 and 70, which are spaced apart to conform to the spacing of

36 and 38, and are produced without a substantial removal of material. .Slits 68 and 7 0 terminate at each end thereof in slits -'72, 74, 76, and 78 and extend normally to slits 68 and 70, in two directions. Slits 72-78 are also produced without the removal of any substantial removal of material. The purpose of slits 72-78 is to permit freer insertion of

36 and 38 by increasing the flexibility of the fibre board, in a manner similar to that shown in FIG. 8.

There may be instances when a smaller panel of fibre board may serve the purpose of holding the plug 34, if it can be so applied that the slits coincide with apertures existing in the back of the appliance: This modification is shown in FIGS. 9 and 10, and provides space merely for the plug and some advertising.

Panel 80 is prepared with an adhesive 82, temporarily protected by a shield of paper 84. A pair of slits 86 and 88 are provided, being similar to those shown either in FIG. 1 or FIG. 4.

When the job ticket of FIG. 1 is to be used, the necessary information is entered on the record card 16 and the claim ticket 18. The latter is then detached from the record card 16. The claim check is given to the owner of the appliance. Until the appliance is ready for delivery, the record card can remain on the appliance (on the tab 12), until the time of delivery of the appliance. Tab 12 is prepared to be attached to the appliance by removing shield 26 from the adhesive surface 24 and applying the latter to a convenient surface on the appliance. Tab

The above being a complete description of an illusative embodiment of the invention, what is claimed as :w and desired to be secured by Letters Patent of the nited States is:

1. A job ticket, to be aifixed to an appliance having a u'd provided with a plug having a plurality of prongs, .id ticket comprising, in combination a sheet of fibrous .aterial having a tab, said tab provided with an adhesive )ating on one surface thereof to permit aflixing said b to said appliance, said tab provided with a plurality f spaced perforations produced without the removal of iaterial, said perforations to receive said prongs :mporarily.

2. A job ticket as set forth in claim 1, in which said :rforations terminate at both ends thereof in pairs of iverging perforations.

3. A job ticket for an appliance, as set forth in claim 1, l which said perforations terminate at both ends thereof 1 perforations extending normal to said first-mentioned erforations.

4. A means to support a power plug temporarily on an ppliance, said plug having a plurality of prongs, said leans comprising a sheet of fibrous material having an rea on one side thereof provided with an adhesive oating to permit affixing said sheet to said appliance, aid sheet having a plurality of perforations to receive said rongs, said perforations produced without the substan- .al removal of material.

5. A means to support a power plug temporarily on n appliance, said plug having a plurality of prongs, said 168.118 comprising a sheet of fibrous material having an dhesive coating on one surface thereof to permit affixing aid sheet to said appliance, said sheet having a plurality if longitudinal perforations terminating at both ends thereof in diverging perforations to receive said prongs, said perforations being produced without a substantial removal of material.

6. A means to support a power plug temporarily on an appliance, said plug having a plurality of prongs, said means comprising a sheet of material having an adhesive coating on one surface thereof to permit affixing said sheet to said appliance, said sheet having a plurality of longitudinal first perforations terminating at both ends in relatively-short perforations extending normal to said first mentioned perforations, said perforations being produced without the substantial removal of material.

7. A means to support a power plug temporarily on an appliance, said plug having a plurality of prongs, comprising, in combination a sheet of fibrous material, means to attach said sheet to said appliance, said sheet having a plurality of longitudinal perforations to receive said prongs, said perforations being produced without the substantial removal of material from said sheet.

8. A means to support a power plug temporarily on an appliance, said plug having a plurality of prongs, said means comprising a sheet of material having an area on one side thereof provided with an adhesive coating to permit aflixing said sheet to said appliance, said sheet having a plurality of perforations to receive said prongs, said perforations produced without the substantial removal of material.

Claims

1. A JOB TICKET, TO BE AFFIXED TO AN APPLIANCE HAVING A CORD PROVIDED WITH A PLUG HAVING A PLURALITY OF PRONGS, SAID TICKET COMPRISING, IN COMBINATION A SHEET OF FIBROUS MATERIAL HAVING A TAB, SAID TAB PROVIDED WITH AN ADHESIVE COATING ON ONE SURFACE THEREOF TO PERMIT AFFIXING SAID TAB TO SAID APPLIANCE, SAID TAB PROVIDED WITH A PLURALITY OF SPACED PERFORATIONS PRODUCED WITHOUT THE REMOVAL OF MATERIAL, SAID PERFORATIONS TO RECEIVE SAID PRONGS TEMPORARILY.
