OSCAR BLOCH, OF vNEV YORK, N. Y.
TEMPORARY BINDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 327,063, dated September 29,1885.
Application tiled April 22, 18155.
To (LZZ whnt it may concern:
Be it known that I, OSCAR BLOCH, of the city of New York, county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Telnporary Binder, of which the following specification is a fuil, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to a new construction of temporary binder more particularly designed for holding together single musicleaves when carried by the musician.
The invention consists in the details of construction hereinatter more fully pointed out.
ln the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a side or edge View of my improved temporary binder. Fig. 2 is a back view of the same with the covering removed, and Fig. 3 a top view of the bottom plate.
The letter a represents the bottom plate of my binder, and b is the top plate. These plates are made of sheet or cast Inet-al, and are preferably of rectangular form. The bottom plate has the upwardly-projecting lugs c, and the top plate the downwardly-proj ecting lugs d, near its edges.
e are bolts passing through lugs c d, and serving to pivotally connect the plates a, b above one another. The top plate, b, is bent downward at its front edge, to form a curved clamping-plate, f, as shown.
gg are two (more or less) pins projecting upwardly from plate ct.
Between the plates a b a suitable spring, h, is interposed, which has the tendency to force (No model.)
the part f down upon plate a, as shown in Fig. 1.
To the plates a b is attached in suitable manner a iiexible Canvas cover, t', which also extends around the back of the binder, as
music, previously punched, is placed upon u plate a over pins g, and then the plate bis released, so that the partfwill, by spring l1,
be forced down upon the music infront of the pins g. The music is now properly bound, and may be used by opening the coversjj.
I claim as my' invention- The combination of plates a b, pivotally connected, with spring h, canvas t, and covers j j, all being` so constructed that a flexible joint is formed in front of plates a b, between covers 6o j and canvas i, substantially as specified.
OSCAR BLOCH.
