TICKET-CHART'.

SLDECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 326,879, dated September 22, 1885.

Application filed June 2, 1884.

To all whom it may concern;

Be it known that I, HENRY E. LoMAs, of Oresco, Howard county, Iowa, have invented a new and Improved rIieket-Ohart, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

The object of my invention is to facilitate the work of selling reserved seats in public halls and other places of entertainment, and also to prevent the sale of the same seat more than once, and it consists in a printed chart or plan having removable portions which are to correspond to the seating` of the place to be sold, so that these portions can be removed and attached to the tickets, and the remaining plan will thereby correctly represent the sold and unsold portions of the house, as hereinafter described and claimed.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which Figurel is a face view of my improved ticket-chart. Fig. 2 is a detailed sectional View of the same.

The chart or plan A is to be large enough to indicate the seats b by portions large enough to be conveniently handled. The seats and aisles are indicated by parallel lines, and each seat has its number and position printed upon it. Between the seats the sheet is perforated or partially cut, so that each square or other shaped portion representing a seat can be easily separated. I prefer to leave space enough between the perforated lines to retain the chart (No model.)

in shape after the portions are removed; and to facilitate the removal of the seats a sheet of thick cardboard, with holes corresponding to the seating, may be used by laying the plan 011 it and pushing down each seat as sold, leaving the apertures as shown at c.

The chart is to be covered with adhesive material on the back, so that when a seat is sold and the corresponding portion ofthe plan is pushed out the piece or check can be pasted on the ticket.

By using this ticket-chart,as described,there will be no possibility of any seat being sold twice, as the absence of that seat or portion from the plan indicates that the seat is taken, and, further, the tickets being blank as to location or seat until the check is pasted on cannot be used if lost or stolen. The expense and trouble of numbered and classified tickets are thus avoided.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The ticket-chart or diagram of a public hall, printed or marked to indicate the seats and each seat portion or check inclosed by a series of perforations to allow the' ready removal of the latter, said chart or diagram having a backing or support, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
