WAGON-BOX.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N0. 316,915, dated April 28, 1885.

Application filed February 20, 1885. (Model) To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JESSE F. RUHL, of Topeka, in the county of Mason and State of Illinois, have invented a new and Improved Detachable Side for Wagon-Boxes, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in the detachable sides of wagon-boxes; and the object of my invention is to hold the detachable sides securely in place and to form a close joint.

The invention consists in the construction and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.

On the top edge of the fixed side A of the wagon-box a metal bar, B, is secured, which has a transversely-convex top surface.

The detachable side 0, which is placed on the fixed side A, is provided in its bottom edge with a longitudinal transversely-concave groove, D, fitting on the top of the bar B, and

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

I. The combination, with the fixed wagonbox side A, having transversely-convex top edge, or a bar on its top edge, the said bar having a transversely-convex top edge, of the detachable side 0, having a transversely-concave groove in its bottom edge and a packingstrip in the groove, substantially as herein shown and described.

2. The combination, with afixed wagon-box side, of a detachable wagon-box side having a packingstrip on its bottom edge, and of a lever pivot-ed on the detachable side, for the purpose of pressing the detachable side firmly on the fixed side, substantially as herein shown and described.

3. The combination, with the fixed wagonbox side A, the detachable side 0, and the endboard M, of the staple L on the end-board, the hook K on the detachable side-board O, the staple F on the fixed side-board A, and the lever H, pivoted on the detachable board 0, and provided with the curved prong or projection I, substantially as herein shown and described.
