(No ModeL) LE ROY S. BUNKER.
.POOD STEAMER.
Patented Apr. 14, 1885.
% 2 7 f l i WITNESSES: v
I BY Mia/1W v ATTORNEYS.
UNITED STATES PATENT @rmcn.
LE EoY s. BUNKER, on VALTON, WISCONSIN, ASSIGNOR TO HIMSELF AND JAMES S. MEADE, OF NEWELL, IOWA.
FOOD-STEAMER.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, LE ROY S. BUNKER, of the city of Valton, county of Saul: and State of Wisconsin, have invented a new and Improved FoodSteamer, of which the following isa full, clear, and exact description.
My improvements relate to steamers for cooking food for farm stock; and the-invention consists in certain novel features of construction which render the heater and the boiler stronger and more durable, as hereinafter described and claimed.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the figures.
Figure 1 is a vertical section of the boiler and heater, and Fig. 2 is a plan view with the boiler removed.
The base or heater A is formed of cast-iron, and with a flanged rim to receive the boiler B, both being of circular form. a is the firespace in the base, and b the aslrpit, below a grate, c, that is hung on pivots at front and rear, so that it can be turned over for cleaning.
Around the fire-place ais a raised rim or partition, (I, which, in connection with middle partitions, c, and outer rim, f, forms back-andforth fines leading to chimney g, so that the heat and other products of combustion are spread into contact with the whole bottom surface of the boiler. Z Z are the fire-doors. The
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 315,713, dated April 1%, 1885.
Application filed July 23. 1884.
(No model.)
boiler B is constructed of sheet metal, with a closed top, h, of conical form, that gives ample Steam-space, and to the top is connected apipe, z, for carrying the steam to the receptacle containing the food to be cooked. There is also a pipe, is, for supplying the boiler with water from an elevated or other source of Suppl y, and the boiler is also provided with a safety-valve anda water-gage. At m is a hand-hole to allow removal of sediment. is much stronger and more durable than those of square form, and therefore allows steam to be used at higher pressure with safety. The boiler can be lifted off from the base, and when in place may be held by clamps to prevent accidental displacement.
Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- In a food-steamer, the heater A, cast with an ash-pit, b, a vertical rim, (1, around thenpper edge of the sides thereof to form the fire pot a, the outer flanged rim, f, the middle partition, e, and the outlet g, the said rims dj and partition c forming the back-and-forth This round boiler flues leading to the outlet, said fines being in the same horizontal plane as the fire-pot, substantially as setforth.
