Description

Oct. 20, 1964 A. HOFSTETTER 3,153,296
sun UNLOADERS Filed on. 10. 1962 INVENTOR 652440 A HaFsrE rrt'k BY W Wid /M ATTOENEY United States Patent 3,153,296 GUN UNLOADERS Gerald A. Hofstetter, 17720 Bolter Lane, Bruokfield, Wis. Filed Oct. 10, 1962, Ser. No. 229,595 1 Claim. (Cl. 4287) This invention relates to improvements in gun unloaders, and more particularly to a novel gun unloader of the type which may be utilized with side loading firearms and the like.
An object of the invention is to provide a device of the type which will enable a hunted to quickly and conveniently remove shells from his gun when it is necessary for him to enter territory wherein hunting is illegal, as frequently occurs in hunting activity.
Other and further objects of the invention will appear as the description proceeds, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which:
FIG. 1 is a side view in elevation of a gun unloader embodying the invention shown inserted into the side aperture of a conventional rifle.
FIG. 2 is a plan view partly in elevation and partly in section of the device.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, the numeral refers to a fire-arm of conventional type having a shell ejection aperture at 11. The gun unloader 12 is comprised of a flexible receptacle or sack 13. One end 14 of said sack 13 has an aperture at 15 normally closed by the interlocking fastening devices 16 for convenience in retrieving shells from the sack.
"ice
The opposite end 17 of the sack 13 is firmly held by ring 18 on the tubular member 19, which latter terminates at its free end in a curved and shallow channel formation at portion 20.
In use, when it is desired to unload the fire-arm 10, the point 20 of the unloader 12 is inserted into the aperture at 11, opening the gate 21, thus permitting the load of spring-pressed shells 22 to' pass through the tubular member 19 into the flexible receptacle 13. The interlocking fastening devices at 16 may be opened to retrieve the shells 22 for reloading of the fire-arm.
It will be understood that the device is capable of many modifications in structure and design without departing from the spirit of the invention within the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed and desired to be secured by Letters Patent of the United States, is:
In combination with an unloading tube for a firearm, an extended curved unilateral portion on one end of said tube, a flexible bag communicating with a circular opposite end of said tube as a receptacle for cartridges to be unloaded, and a tubular entrance portion of said bag aligned with and embracing the circular end of said tube, the body of said bag enlarging conically from the diameter of said circular tube end.
