Description
March 17, 1964 BAUER 3,125,384
MONSTRANCES Filed Nov. 24, 1961 IN VEN TOR. HELENE BH EZ- United States Patent 0 3,125,384 MONSTRANCES Arlene Bauer, 3221 S. Superior St., Milwaukee 7, Wis. Filed Nov. 24, 1961, Ser. No. 154,536 1 Claim. (Cl. 31233) This invention relates to improvements in monstrances,
and more particularly to a novel method of detachably securing a receptacle on said monstrance.
An object of the invention is to provide magnet means for releasably securing a receptacle in a device of this type.
Other and further objects of the invention will appear as the description proceeds, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which:
FIG. 1 is a front view showing a monstrance embodying the invention;
FIG. 2 is a side view thereof;
FIG. 3 is a top plan view of FIG. 1, and
FIG. 4 is a plan view of the top of a pedestal showing a magnet recessed therein.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, the numeral 10 refers to a base plate, supporting a pedestal 11 in the upper end of which a magnet 12 is recessed.
A receptacle base 13 has recessed in the lower portion thereof, a metallic element 14 which is responsive to the magnet 12 for the purpose of retaining receptacle base 13 in the desired position on the pedestal 11. The receptacle base 13 carries the vertical standard member 15 which is afiixed to and supports the sacred species receptacle or container 16, the latter having transparent front and rear end Walls 17. A fiat circular ornamental element 18 is fixed in the standard 11.
In use, the provision of a magnet permits easy removal and replacement of the container 16 on the pedestal 11 as may be appropriate and desirable.
It will be understood that the device is capable of many modifications in structure and design, without de- 3,125,384 Patented Mar. 17, 1964 parting from the spirit of the invention, within the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed and desired to be secured by Letters Patent of the United States, is:
A monstrance, comprising in combination, a frustoconical supporting pedestal including a flat top having a recess therein, a permanent magnet seating in said recess and having a flat top surface flush with the flat top of said pedestal, a circular receptacle base having a flat bottom of a diameter substantially equal to that of the flat top of said frusto-conical pedestal, said bottom having a recess therein conforming in size and shape to, and vertically aligned with, said first mentioned recess, a ferrous metal plate in said last mentioned recess having a flat bottom flush with the flat bottom of said base, said plate and said magnet cooperating to hold said base on said pedestal, a vertical standard carried centrally by the top of said base, a cylindrical sacred species receptacle having transparent end walls fixedly mounted on said standard with said transparent walls in vertical planes, rendering the sacred species visible from both ends and ornamental elements extending laterally and upwardly from said pedestal.
