Referring in detail to the drawings and particularly to FIGS. 1, 2 and 3, a combined hair steamer and brush embodying the invention is designated generally by the reference numeral It) and is illustrated treating the hair 11 of a wig 12 on a dolls head 14. FIG. 2 illustrates an up-swing form of hair-do elfected by treating and brushing the hair 11 by the combined hair steamer and brush iii, and FIG. 3 illustrates a different or boyish form of hair-do produced by application of the hair steamer and brush it).
With particular reference to FIGS. 1 and 8, the combined hair steamer and brush It? includes a steamer device 15 and a removable brush device 17. The bodies of the devices are preferably formed of metal.
The steamer device 15 comprises a frame or manifold 16. The body of the frame or manifold is formed of a steel casting and is H-shaped in configuration, with leg portions 18 and 29 connected by a crosspiece 2'2. Crosspiece 2-2 is rectangular in cross section and is stouter than the leg portion, having flat smooth front and rear surfaces 24 and 26 as viewedin :FIG. 6. The leg portions 18 and 2d are substantially rectangular in cross section. Leg portion 18 has a tapered rear surface 28 and leg portion 2d has a straight square rear surface 3% as viewed in FIG. 8. Each leg portion is cut away at the front surface providing a flat smooth shoulder 34 on a level with and intersected by the adjacent end of the crosspiece 22.. A round passage 36 is formed in each of the leg portions 18 and 20 at substantially the centers thereof and the passages 3d extend from one end to a point closely spaced from the other end of the leg portion as seen in FIG. 5.
A plurality of spaced outlet passages 38 is formed in each of the leg portions extending from the outer or front side thereof as viewed in FIG. 8 to and intersecting with the respective passage 36 in the leg portion so that communication is established between passages 36 and the outlet passages 33 as seen in PEG. 5. The threaded open ends of the passages 36 are plugged by threaded screw plugs 46. A passage 42 is formed in the crosspiece and extends centrally therealong communicating at its ends with the passages 36 in the leg portions. A threaded opening 44 is formed in leg portion 20 at its center and intersects the adjacent passage 36, being in line with the adjacent end of passage 42. A short elbow pipe 46 threaded at both ends has one end thereaded into the opening 44.
In leg portion 2d, a curved notch 43 extends along the inner edge of shoulder 34.
An elongated tubular handle 59 covered by a heat insulative plastic sleeve 52 is connected at one end to the rear surface as of the crosspiece 22 of the frame or manifold. For this purpose, the connected end of the handle is flattened as indicated at 5 2 and placed flatwise on the crosspiese with a pad 56 of padding material interposed between the flat end 54 and the crosspiece 22'. A pair of screws 58 extend through holes in the fiat end 5 of the handle and into threaded recesses in the crosspiece and secure the handle in place disposed at an actuate angle to the plane of the crosspiece as seen in FIG. 1.
The brush device 17, as best seen in FlGS. 6, 7 and 8, comprises a rectangular-shaped body constituted by a metal plate 6% with its long side edges 62, 62 and end edges 64, 64 turned inwardly to clamp a plastic plate 66 in position thereon. The plate 66 serves as a bed for a plurality of wire bristles 68 having one end embeded therein and extending outwardly therefrom, the outer ends 79 of the wire bristles being bent at an actuate angle to the plane of the body of the bristles. All of the bristles are bent in the same direction, that is toward one of the long efies of the body plate 69.
The brush device 17 is adapted to be removably supported on the frame or manifold 15.
