Description
Sept. 24, 1963 c. J. BEUCK PEN AND PENCIL HOLDER Filed NOV. 9, 1961 INVENTOR. 60/0 :1 BeUc/f H 7 United States Patent Ofiice 3,14,435 Patented Sept. 24, 1963 3,104,435 PEN AND PENCIL HOLDER Coin 3. Bench, 717 27th St., Sioux City, Iowa Filed Nov. 9, 1961, Ser. No. 151,393 1 Claim. (Cl. 24-10) My invention relates to a pen and pencil holder.
An object of my invention is to provide a pen and pencil holder which can be conveniently and firmly at tached within the pocket of the wearer.
A further object of my invention is to provide a holder which will securely retain pens or pencils.
A further object of my invention is to provide means whereby the pens or pencils can be' readily disengaged from the holder.
A further object of my invention is to provide a holder which will project above the upper edge of the pocket so as to provide more positive manipulation.
With these and other objects in view, my invention consists in the construction, arrangement, and combination of the various parts of my device, whereby the objects contemplated are attained, as hereinafter more fully set forth, pointed out in my claim and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:
FIGURE 1 is a plan view of the holder,
FIGURE 2 is a forward elevation of FIGURE 1,
FIGURE 3 is a sectional view taken along the lines 33 of FIGURE 2.
FIGURE 4 is a sectional view taken along the lines 4-4 of FIGURE 2 and FIGURE 5 is a sectional view taken emteriorly of the holder through the pocket.
My invention contemplates the provision of an economically constructed pen and pencil holder which includes the various advantages above mentioned, and which also will protect the pocket of the user from undue wear and the like.
I have used the character to designate a slightly arcuate sheet of plastic or other suitable material, this sheet including the openings or 'apentures 11 which are suitably punched out of the material ltl, the apertures 11 being bounded by the prongs 12, and the apertures 11 including the extending integral apertures 13 extending therefrom, the apertures 13 being directly adjacent to the sloping wall portions 14 which are provided in the member 10.
The character 15 indicates further sloping wall portions provided at the top of the member 10. Attached as at 16 to the member 10 are the clip members 17 which can include the roughened portions at 18 to thereby firmly enga-ge the fabric 19 of the pocket 20 in which the holder is to be inserted.
Attached to the member 10 is a transparent strip of material 21 which is positioned behind the apertures 11 to thereby provide protection means.
FIGURE 2 especially indicates how the device is used, it being noted that the clips 17 are placed over the upper edge 22 of the pocket material 19, it being noted that there will be a projecting portion 23 of the member 10 extend- 2 ing above said upper edge to thereby insure more convenient manipulation of the pens or pencils.
It will also be noted in FIGURE 2 that more than one pencil or pen can be used in the apertures 11.
The pens or pencils are indicated generally by the character 24, the clips thereof being indicated by the character 25, and the ball or rounded ends being indicated by the character 26. i
The pens or pencils 2 4 are inserted by merely placing the ball portions 26 at the portions 15 of the holder 19', and pressing downwardly whereby the sloping portions 15 will provide easy entrance of the pen or pencil into the pocket, and when it is desired to remove the pen or pencil it is merely pulled over to the position at 27 shown in FIGURE 2 whereby the ball member 26 will bear against the sloping wall 14 whereby the pen or pencil can be readily removed by means of the smooth action against surface.
It will now be noted that I have provided the various advantages mentioned in the objects of my invention with further advantages being apparent.
Some changes may be made in the construction and arrangement of the parts of my invention without departing from the real spirit and purpose of my invention, and it is my intention to cover by my claim any modified forms of structure or use of mechanical equivalents which may be reasonably included within their scope.
I claim as my invention:
A pen and pencil holder comprising a main body portion, said body portion having a plurality of laterally spaced apertures, said body portion being formed of relatively thin material to all-ow attachment of pen clips thereto, said apertures having further aperture portions extending from said apertures, said body portion having sloping wall portions merging with said further apertures whereby a pen clip can be smoothly drawn along the same, said body portion including upper sloping portions for providing ready attachment of said pen clips, said further apertures extending laterally from said apertures, clips attached to said main body portion for attaching said body portion to a pocket, said clips being spaced from the upper edge of said main body portion whereby an upper portion of said body portion will extend above the upper edge of said pocket, a transparent member attached behind said apertures.
