CLARA OLIVE BILINSKI, OF DIAMOND LAKE, ILLINOIS.
CLOTH ES SPRINKLER.
SPECIFICATION forming part; of Letters Patent No. 310,020, dated December 30, 1884.
(No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CLARA OLIvE BILINSKI, of Diamond Lake, in the county of Lake and State of Illinois, have invented a new and Improved (llothes-Sprinkler, of which the follow ing is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of my invention is to provide a simple, effective, and inexpensivedevice for sprinkling clothes for laundry and household purposes; and it consists in the construction and combination of parts, as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in
which similar letters of reference indicate cor responding parts in both the figures.
Figure 1 is a front elevation, partly in section, of myimproved clothes sprinkler. Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse section.
The standard A is provided with a shelf, B, at its lower end, to which are attached screw-clamps C, for securing the said standard to the table. The upper end of the stand ard A is provided with a shelf, D, for supporting the pail E, and is furnished with a standard, F, for receiving the bail of the said pail and retaining it upon the shelf D. A flexible rubber tube, G, connected with the pail E, leads to the sprinkler-nozzle H through a pinch-cock, I, resting upon the shelf B. The pinch-cock I consists of a block, J, bored longitudinally to receive the tube G, and pro vided with a lever-spring, a, which carries at its free end a loop, 1), extending downward through holes in the block beneath the tube, and adapted to be drawn upward by the le ver-spring a, so as to close the tube G. A wire loop, 0, extending upward through the shelf B and block J, passes over the top of the lever-spring a, and is connected at its lower end with a pedal, K. The inclination of the nozzle H may be varied by means of a button, L, secured to the side of the standard A and pressing upon the top of the rubber tube G. A cup, M, attached to the standard A below the sprinkler-nozzle H, receives The water that may drip from the said nozzle. The pail Eis placed atasufficient height above the nozzle H to insure the discharge of the water through the said nozzle in the form of to be sprinkled are placed upon the table within range of the nozzle H, and the pedal K is pressed by the foot, the lever-spring a is drawn downward, and the tube G is relieved of the pressure of the loop I). The water is then discharged in afine spray from the nozzle H upon the clothes. Then the pedal K is released, the spring I raises the loop b and presses the tube G, thereby stopping the flow of water. v
I am aware that a nasal douche has been constructed of a reservoir, flexible tube, and a nose-piece; also, that a washstand has been provided with a flexible outlet-pipe and with a spring pinch-cock constructed to close the pipe, and adapted to be withdrawn bya cord. bell'crank lever, and a handle or lever; also, that a sprinkler for clothes has been constructed of a tube provided with a rose and stop-cock, and connected to a water-supply; and I do not desire to claim any such con- 1 struction as of my invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is"
1. The combination of the longitudinallyapertured block J and the rubber tubing G, passed through the longitudinal aperture, with the lever-spring a, loop I), passing from the lever-spring a under the tube G, loop 0, connected with lever-spring a, and the pedal K, connected to the lowerend of loop a, substantially as set forth.
2. The standard A, shelf B, and clamp C, in combination with the block J on said shelf, tube G, passing through said block, and pinch-cock I, secured to the block for closing tube, substantially as set forth.
3. The combination, in a clothes-sprinkler, of the standard A, upper and lower shelves, D B, with the pail E, tube G, connected to the pail, block J, mounted on the lower shelf, and pinch-cock I on the block J for closing the tube, substantially as set forth.
4. The combination, in a clothes-sprinkler, of the standard A, pail-shelf D, projecting at right angles thereto, and the vertical eXtential'ly as set forth, whereby the tube may be sion F, for supporting the bail of a pail, snbheld in place and the angle of the nozzle vastantially as set forth. ried.
5. In a clothes-sprinkler, the standard A,
5 provided with a slot, and the pivoted button L at one side of the slot, in combination with the sprinkling tube and nozzle G H, substan- CLARA OLIVE BILINSKI. \Vitnesses:
