To all whom it mayV concern:

Be it known that I, CHARLES UOLAHAN, of Cleveland, Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in lVash-Basins and Bath-Tubs, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings. in whichf Figure l is an elevation. My invention has relation to attaining to perfect cleanliness and simplicity of construction which will admit of the ready and easy removal of the waste and overflow pipe, for purpose of cleaning same, and dispense with the chain attachment to the stopple at the bottom of the bowl or basin.

In the drawings, A represents the washstand; A, the bowl located therein.

B represents the outlet-pipe.

C represents the overflow-pipe; U, the aperture from the basin into the outlet-pipe.

C is the arm and hinge attached to the stopple, which is pivoted, at c, to the side of the overflow-pipe. Y

D is the main escape or conduit pipe and siplion or trap.

E is the cover at the .point of induction, which maybe readily unscrewed and removed, to admit of access of the hand for removal of foreign substances.

F is a removable receiver retaining water, entering into which is the lower end of discharge-pipeB, provided with a sieve or screen,

c, which prevents the passage of any material which would tend to clog or obstruct pipe.-

b is the opening at the top of the overflow or waste pipe C.

d is the depression or groove in the bowl for pipe C.

The bowl is constructed of a usual form, with a hole in the bottom of proper shape, and a concave depression extending from at or near the top to the bottom or point of discharge, to admit the placing of the overflow and escape or discharge pipe therein, the said pipe being usually constructed of one piece, thatit may be readily removed in the operation of cleaning same.

It will be noticed that the bath-tub G is the same in its general construction.

By the use of these devices no offensive or obj ectional odors are possible or will enter the wash basin or tub.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

l. In a washing-basin or bath-tub, the outlet and overflow pipe constructed of one piece, and placed in a recess formed on the inside of the bowl or tub, to facilitate its ready removal, substantially as shown and described.

2. The pipes B C, arranged in a recess formed on the inside and discharging through the center ofthe bowl A, and extending into the water in the removable cup F, in combination with the siphon D, substantially as shown and described.

3. The outlet and overflow pipe discharging through the center of the bowl, the screen C, cup F, in combination with the Siphon D, substantially as shown and described.
