Description
April 16, 1963 J. TRATTLER 3,
COMBINATION TUBE HOLDER Filed Sept. 16, 1960 34 PIC-3.65 H65 INVENTOR. JEANNE TRATTLER QMMW United States Patent 3,085,716 COMBINATION TUBE HOLDER Jeanne Trattler, 2535 SW. 31st Ave., Miami, Fla. Filed Sept. 16, 1960, Ser. No. 56,399 2 Claims. (Cl. 222--93) This invention relates generally to holders and is more particularly directed to a combined tube holder and dispenser.
A principal object of the present invention is to provide a combined holder and dispenser of a tube of paste such as tooth paste, shaving cream, paint, etc., wherein the holder also accommodates a brush, safety razor or other device to be used in connection with the material in the tube.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a combined holder for a tube of material and a brush therefor consisting of a support member and a dispensing key wherein the latter serves to dispense the paste or material from the tube as well as support the tube on the support member.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a combined holder for a tube of paste and a brush therefor constructed preferably of wire or rod-like material which is simple in construction, inexpensive in cost and readily maintains the brushes in a sanitary condition.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a combination tube holder which can be supported on the conventional bathroom fixture or suspended on a wall to support a tube in cooperation with a dispensing key.
With these and other objects in view, the invention will be best understood from a consideration of the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, with the understanding, however, that the invention is not confined to any strict conformity with the showing of the drawing but may be changed or modified so long as such changes or modifications mark no material de parture from the salient features of the invention as expressed in the appended claims.
In the drawing:
FIGURE 1 is a perspective View of my combined brush and paste holder positioned on a bathroom fixture which is indicated by dotted lines with the tooth paste and tooth brush shown by way of illustration.
FIGURE 2 is a side elevational view of my device shown mounted on a wall.
FIGURES 3 and 4 are top plan and front elevational views respectively, thereof.
FIGURE 5 is a top plan view of the dispensing key.
FIGURE 6 is a side view thereof.
Referring to the drawing wherein like numerals are used to designate similar parts throughout the several views, there is shown my combined brush and paste holder consisting of a support member 10 and a dispensing key 11 both of which coact to form a unitary device for the purposes intended. Both the support member 10 and dispensing key 11 are preferably constructed of wire or rod-like material though they may be made of sheet material stamped and bent to assume the shape of my device shown and described herein.
The support member 10 is provided with a handle portion having leg portions 12, 12 in spaced parallel relation with each other, joined at one end by a loop portion 13 adapted to receive a screw or bolt 14 for suspending my device on a wall 28 as shown by FIGURE 2. My device may also be supported on a bathroom soap dish or fixture by inserting the leg portions 12, 12 into an opening 16 in the soap dish 15. In either instance my device will support a plurality of tooth brushes 17 and a tube of tooth paste 18 as is described in detail hereinafter. The ends of the leg portions 12 which join the loop portion 13 converge in a direction toward each other as at 19, 19 to form a constricted opening 20 which prevents my support member 10 from slipping inadvertently off the screw or bolt 14. The other ends of the leg portions 12 are bent at right angle to form a web portion 21 and again bent at right angle and returned in the same direction as the leg portions 12, 12 to form an, arm or support portion 22, 22. The arm portions 22 are now bent at approximately right angle as at 23 and extend arcuately in a plane'in opposite directions to form a pair of opposed semi-circular arm portions 24. The free ends of the semi-circular arm portions 24, 24 extend radially as along 25, bent in a direction away from each other to forman arcuate portion 26, 26 spaced from the semi-circular arm portions 24, 24 and then returned in the direction normal to the semi-circular armportions 24, 24 as at 27, 27 to terminate adjacent the periphery of the semi-circular arm portions 24, 24. The pair of semi-circular arm portions 24, 24 form an approximately circular opening 30 for receiving and supporting the tube of tooth paste 18 and the portions 25, 26 and 27 along with the semi-circular arm portions 24 form approximately rectangular openings 31 to receive and support the tooth brushes 17 therein as best shown' by FIGURE 1.
The dispensing key 11 consists of a handle portion 32 and a main leg portion 33 extending at approximately the mid-portion and at right angle to the handle portion 32. The free end of the main leg portion 33 is bent upon itself and returned in contact relation with the main leg portion 33 to form one tube engaging leg portion 34, the other tube engaging leg portion 35 being in spaced parallel relation to the first mentioned tube engaging leg portion 34. An outwardly extending lip portion 36 is provided at the free end of the tube engaging leg portion 35 to facilitate the sliding of the lower end of a collapsible tube of tooth paste 18 therein. Winding of the dispensing key 11 on the collapsible tube 18 will cause the tooth paste to be expelled from the tube upon removal of the tube cap 37. When the tube of tooth paste 18 is returned to the holder or support member 10, the key 11 will straddle the opening 30 and rest on semi-circular arm portions 24 to support the tube of tooth paste 18. The tooth brushes 17 are inserted into the openings 31 to be supported by the arm portions 25, 26 and 2.7.
My combination tube holder 10 and 11 has been shown and described by Way of illustration as supporting a tube of tooth paste 18 and a tooth brush 17 mountable on a bathroom fixture 15 or a wall 28. My device may be used to support a tube of shaving cream by the dispenser 11 and receive a safety razor in the openings 31. My device is useful in the kitchen as well as work shops and utility rooms for holding tubes of paint, brushes and other tools.
