F. R. DAVIS May 21, 1968 BRACKET FOR COLLAPSIBLE TUBES, SAFETY RAZOR AND THE LIKE Filed July 26, 1966 2 Sheets-Sheet 1 FIG- 1 F. R. DAVIS May 21, 1968 BRACKET FOR COLLAPSIBLE TUBES, SAFETY RAZOR AND THE LIKE Filed July 26, 1966 2 Sheets-Sheet 2 FIG. 4b
FIG. 5a
United States Patent 3,384,243 BRACKET FOR COLLAPSIBLE TUBES, SAFETY RAZOR AND THE LIKE Frank Richard Davis, 2095 Grand Blvd., Apt. 9, Montreal, Quebec, Canada Filed July 26, 1966, Ser. No. 567,980 1 Claim. (Cl. 211-37) This invention relates to a combination wall bracket which oifers a more convenient method of dispensing toothpaste, shaving cream or the like from metal collapsible tube containers. A section of the bracket also supports a safety razor.
The average toothpaste and shaving cream tubes are cumbersome in most home medicine cabinets. Used daily they form different shapes and much space is used in the horizontal position on the shelf. Many times they fall sweeping other articles to the sink. One can also get angry by dropping the screw cap down the drain or on the floor. The safety razor is another article that takes a hazardous place, a point which could be unsanitary and a fact that many times the razor falls in the porcelain sink causing permanent damage to the enamel finish.
I have found that these inconveniences can be adjusted by a compact unit made to fit conventional wall medicine cabinets. The design is not complicated and is not expensive to produce. It will hold a tube of toothpaste and shaving cream hanging vertically fiat against the Wall which does not require handling during usage. The unit also supports a safety razor by the handle in a safe and sanitary position, it is always in view of the user and can be placed on or ad without hesitation. Trials have proven that general types of toothpaste and shaving cream will keep moist and free for daily use when hung downward as illustrated by the inventor, therefore screw caps are not needed during usage.
Drawings which illustrate embodiments of the invention:
FIGURE 1 is the front view of embodiment.
FIGURE 2 is a side view attached to wall.
FIGURE 3 is a top view attached to wall.
FIGURES 4, 4a and 4b are side, top and front views, respectively, of the wall bracket.
FIGURES 5 and 5a are front and side views of the tube holder key.
FIGURE 1 illustrates the two sizes of tubes 3 large and medium and varied in length. There is access to all articles and one can place a shaving brush directly under the safety razor on the shelf of the medicine cabinet. The front view also indicates how the handle opening of the key head 2 fits on bracket 1 and when released the torque created by the weight of the tube is held in a rigid position against the wall.
FIGURE 2 illustrates the extended bracket arms 1 which holds the safety razor and the position that the paste tubes take during usage against the wall 5. The turned portion of the crimped tube end 6 indicates how the slack in the tube is controlled. During complete usage it is necessary to wind up slack approximately twice, this is done by removing key 2 from bracket 1, replace screw cap and wind up slack, replace back in position on bracket, remove cap and resume using by placing brush under outlet While the other hand simultaneously presses fingers to the tube which is flat against the wall thus squeezing out the desired amount of paste. Comparing the methods of using such products the invention is approximately ten times faster than the normal handling.
FIGURE 3 top view illustrates tubes in position ready 3,384,243 Patented May 21, 1968 for use 3 of dispensing paste, or the like, daily will collapse the container and the tube key holder 2 eventually is pressed to the wall when depleted. The bracket 1 is attached to a desired height of any sectional part of a wall medicine cabinet which affords approximately one inch clearance at the top of bracket screw mounting and two inches or more at the bottom of tube outlets. The round handle of the safety razor 4 which is placed on bracket 1 is held securely in a prong like grip and can be placed on or off without hesitation.
FIGURE 4 is the wall bracket formed from one metal strip or other suitable material thereof. The bottom part of the U which forms a fiat seat has two holes to attach to the wall. The dimensions of the wall bracket and the tube holder key may vary to fit the use intended and the invention is not limited to any size. The design as submitted should be /2 wide strip by thick stainless steel and would protrude about two to three inches from the wall.
FIGURE 5 is the tube holder key and is made of metal wire or other suitable material which can be shaped, moulded or extruded to form a slot 6 for the insertion of a crimped bottom end of a collapsible metal tube container. The handle 8 slide fits on the arms of FIG. 4 and the slot 6 is the determined size to fit small, medium and large tube containers of toothpaste and shaving creams. However the invention can apply to many other products of comparison.
The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:
1. An article of manufacture comprising three parts made of metal or other suitable material thereof forming a combination wall unit for the use of dispensing paste or the like from tube containers and of which there are two identical tube holder keys engaged to a wall bracket and the wall bracket is formed as a U shape with a fiat bottom section with two holes to attach to a wall with screws or the like and the said wall bracket having two extended parallel arms projecting horizontally from the wall and spaced apart enough to accommodate the handle of a safety razor and also the said two identical tube holder keys which are made of metal wire or other suitable material shaped to form a square opening on each of the handles and the openings made to house and engage to and from the said extended arms of the wall bracket and the tube holder keys when retained in position on the wall bracket extend horizontally in alternate positions fiat to the wall and each of the tube holder keys afford a slot in length to aflix and support general sizes of collapsible metal tube containers of toothpaste or shaving cream or the like fastened by the crimped end of the tube containers and each container is supported by a tube holder key and hung adjacent to each other in a vertical position flat to the wall with the capless ends down during the entire usage of their contents.
