Description
Dec. 18, 1962 R. RAPP FORM-FITTING PANTS Filed Dec. 27, 1960 INVENTOR Richard Rcpp BY J W ATTORNEY United States Patent 3,068,871 FORW-FITTWG PANTS Richard Rapp, Woodbury, N.Y., assignor of one-half to Ben Pearl, Brooklyn, N.Y. Filed Dec. 27, 1960, Ser. No. 78,624 1 Claim. (Cl. 128-519) This invention relates to ladies garments and more particularly to ladies form-fitting pants, generally referred to as toreador or equestrienne pants.
Such form-fitting garments are generally provided with a torso-encircling portion having leg sections of varying lengths extending therefrom. Such garments are further provided with a partial lining encircling the interior of the torso-encircling portion which provides reinforcement of the pants fabric to insure the maintenance of its shape especially in the region of the buttocks.
Because of fashion demands, such form-fitting garments closely hug the body lines of a wearer. It is quite evident that since natural body lines rarely, if ever, conform to the concept of fashion lines, the wearer, in order to more closely conform to fashion lines, will don a bodyrestricting garment in addition to, and underneath, the form-fitting garment.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide, in a form-fitting garment, restraining means for the torso, especially in the abdomen and buttocks.
Another object of the present invention is the provision of shape reinforcing means, in a form-fitting garment, which will additionally function to confine those portions of the body which would otherwise tend to round out or bulge.
A further object of the present invention is to provide constraining means integrally incorporated in a formfitting garment which, when applied to the figure, will effect a slimming appearance to the body, especially of the abdomen and buttocks.
in general, achievement of the foregoing objects and advantages is secured by providing a panty portion in a form-fitting garment which will maintain the garment in a firm position upon the body of the wearer. Such panty portion is further provided with a plurality of woven elastic panels integrally incorporated in the panty section and disposed at specific locations thereon to afiord a slimming effect of the body of the wearer especially in the abdominal region and the region of the buttocks.
Other objects, advantages and inventive characteristics of this new and unique garment will become apparent to those versed in the art from the following description of the present invention as illustrated in the drawings in which similar reference characters identify similar parts in the several views and in which:
FIG. 1 is a front perspective view showing the interior of a pair of form-fitting pants formed according to the present invention;
FIG. 2 is a rear perspective view thereof; and
FIG. 3 is a view taken on line 3-3 of FIG. 2.
Referring now to the drawingsthere is illustrated a pair of womens form-fitting pants comprising a torso encircling portion 11 and right and left leg sections 12, 13 respectively, of varying lengths extending therefrom. The torso-encircling portion 11 and leg sections 12, 13
i a A.
may be fabricated in the conventional manner of a plurality of panels as illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2.
The form-fitting pants 10 of the present invention are further provided with a panty 20 interiorly disposed within the torsoencircling portion 11 thereof. Such pants 20 are fabricated in the conventional manner, of a left 21 and right 22 panel, said panels being joined at the front by stitching 23, such stitching extending through the crotch and meeting rear stitching 24 to form leg openings 33, 34. The panty 20 is additionally secured along the top edge thereof to the top edge 27 of the garment.
Secured to the outer face of the panty 20, at the front thereof, there is provided a panel 25 of Woven elastic fabric having a two-way stretch characteristic. A similar panel 26 is disposed at the rear of the panty 20. Such panels 25, 26 are stitched along the top edge 27 of the garment securing it thereto. Front panel 25 further extends downwardly approximately to the crotch area, and is of sufiicient width, as well as centrally disposed to overlay the abdominal region of a wearer. Rear panel 26 is likewise disposed at the rear of pants 20, so as to substantially overlay the region of the buttocks.
The garment 10 may additionally be provided with a conventional fastener structure 32 such as an operable slide fastener or the like.
It will be noted that although panels 25, 26 are in effect sandwiched between the fabric layer comprising the garment 1t and the interiorly disposed panty 20 such panels 25, 26 may be disposed upon the inner surface of said panty 20 so as to be directly in contact with the body of a wearer.
It is further within the ambit of the present invention to provide a panty girdle of the conventional type interiorly disposed in said form-fitting pants 10.
I claim:
A form-fitting ladys garment having a torso-encircling portion, and a pair of leg sections extending therefrom, a panty interiorly disposed substantially in said torsoencircling portion, said panty having secured upon its outer surface at the front and rear thereof a plurality of woven elastic fabric restrictive panels, one of said panels being disposed to substantially centrally overlay the front thereof, said other panel being disposed to substantially centrally overlay the rear thereof, said elastic panels being disposed between said panty and the torso-encircling portion of said garment said panty being secured at the top thereof to said form-fitting pants.
