PHILETUS C. LATHROP, OF HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT. I
GLOVE-FASTENER.
SPECIFICATIONforming part of Letters Patent NO. 301,902, dated July 15, 1884-.
Application filed May 3, 1884. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, PI-IILETUS G. LATHROP, of Hartford, in the county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Glove-Fast eners, of which the following is a description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, where Figure 1 is what may be termed a top viewof the device attached to a glove, the whole being laid down fiatwise. Fig. 2 is a view of the parts in vertical section on the plane as 00. Both these figures of drawings are enlarged above the proper scale for the sake of more perfectly illustrating the parts. Fig. 3 is a detail sectional view of the catch-ring on plane denoted by line y y of Fig. 1.
The letter a denotes a ring attached to one flap of the glove, into which the hook which is attached to the other flap of theglove catches, and I will therefore call it a' catchring. This ring, as is readily seen in Fig. 2, is raised from or above the surface of the glove, that the hook may more readily take hold thereof, and its annular construction enables the hook to enter it and take hold of it readily, whatever the direction in which the hook approaches the ring. This raised ring is made by taking a circular plate of suitable sheet metal, cutting two opposed and corresponding arcs of circles in the same, and pressing this central part downward, leaving the outer rim as a raised ring, and this ring, thus construct ed, is attached to the fabric of the glove by a common form of rivet, b.
The letter 0 denotes the hook, which is attached to the other flap of the glove by a rivet, d, which is similar to the rivet b. The end of this hook is rolled, as is readily seen in Fig. 2, to enable the wearer of the glove to readily detach the hook from the ring when he desires so to do. The rivet d attachesto the hook c a plate, which is so shaped at one end as to cover and substantially hide the catch-ring a when the parts are engaged. This part, which I call the catch-ring cover, is lettered e in the drawings. I describe and show, thiscatchring cover as made in a separate piece from the hook. Obviously it might be integral therewith.
I claim as any improvement- 1. In a glove-fastening, in combination, the catch-ring a, the hook c, and the catch-ring cover 6, all substantially as described, and for the purpose set forth.
2. In combination, the catch-ring a and the hook 0, having the rolled end, substantially as described, and for. the purpose set forth.
3. In combination, the raised catch-ring a, the roll-end hook c, and the catch-ring cover 6, all substantially-as described, and for the purpose set forth.
