1 Claim. (Cl. 2-300) This invention relates to belts and more particularly to a utility belt for ladies and girls.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a utility belt assembly particularly suitable for use by girls and ladies that will provide suitable compartments for conveniently carrying handkerchiefs, other sundry articles, and coins, which will be extremely comfortable to wear, attractive in appearance, and which will not easily become lost.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a utility belt assembly of the above type in which separate compartments are provided for supporting coins apart from the other sundry articles so as to be readily available for use at all times.

Other objects of the invention are to provide a utility belt bearing the above objects in mind which is of simple construction, has a minimum number of parts, is inexpensive to manufacture and efficient in operation.

For other objects and for a better understanding of the invention, reference may be had to the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of a utility belt assembly made in accordance with the present invention;

Figure 2. is an enlarged transverse cross sectional view taken along line 2-2 of Figure 1;

Figure 3 is an enlarged transverse cross sectional view taken along line 3 3- of Figure l; and

Figure 4 is a perspective view of a utility belt made in accordance with the present invention in operative use.

Referring now more in detail to the drawing, and more particularly to Figures 1 to 3 thereof, a utility belt assembly made in accordance with the present invention is shown to include a flexible strap 12 constructed of any suitable material, such as leather', plastic, or the like. A buckle 13 having a pintle 14 at one end of the strap 12 is adapted to engage within a selective one of the holes 15 at the opposite end of the strap for securing these ends of the strap together when the belt is applied to the waist of the wearer. A first receptacle 17 in the form of a casing having an arcuate front wall 16 and an arcuate back wall 19 that defines an upwardly opening access opening 18 is used for various sundry articles, such as handkerchiefs. This receptacle is provided with a strip 20 with a corrugated inner surface that is integrally connected at opposite ends adjacent to the upper and lower extremities of the back wall 19 so as to define a tunnel or passageway 21 with one corrugated wall for frictionally holding and for slidably receiving one end of the strap 12 therethrough. It will be noted that the outside of the front wall 16 is convex while the outside surface of the rear wall 19 is concave, so that the receptacle 17 is substantially kidney shaped in cross section. This particular shape of the receptacle with an open top enables a relatively large quantity of small articles to be conveniently supported therewithin without readily being displaced inadvertently out of the top opening of the Y 2 casing. The corrugated wall of said strip 20 for securing said receptacle 17 in a selected position along the strap 12. Said strap fitting within the concave portion of the rear wall of said receptacle, substantially reinforcing the e rearwall and said strap having its vertical axis extending in a vertical plane common to the vertical plane extending through upper and lower extremities of the rear wall of said receptacle.

A second receptacle 23 in the form of a casing having an arcuate top wall 29 and arcuate base Wall 28, a front wall which slopes downwardly and outwardly, a vertical rear wall, said rear wall having a corrugated rear wall surface, said second receptacle is similarly provided with a strip 25 that extends between the upper and lower ends thereof and integrally connected at the opposite ends adjacent upper and lower extremities of said back wall so as to define a passageway or tunnel 26 with a corrugated wall for frictionally holding and for slidably receiving the opposite end of the strap 12 therethrough. The front wall 22 of this casing is provided with a longitudinally extending zipper type slide fastener 27 intermediate the upper and lower ends thereof for providing access to the interior of the closed receptacle for storing coins, money, and other valuables. It will be noted that the radius of curvature of the base wall 28 is substantially larger than the radius of curvature of the top wall 29, whereby the receptacle defines an interior compartment that is enlarged downwardly from the slide fastener opening portion thereof. This permits a relatively large amount of coins and other valuables to be stored therewithin safely away from the opening so as not to readily fall out when the slide fastener is opened during use. The corrugated rear wall of the second receptacle within the tunnel for securing said receptacle 23 in a selected position along the opposite end of the strap.

In actual use, the belt assembly may be applied to the waist of any woman or child to provide the necessary pocket space for carrying the necessary sundry articles in an open receptacle land coins which men and boys ordinarily carry in pockets of their clothes in a closed receptacle which can be opened, thus providing a convenience not heretofore available.

While various changes may be made in the detail construction, it shall be understood that such changes shall be within the spirit and scopeof the present invention as defined by the appended claim.

What we claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent of the United States is:

A ladies and girls utility receptacle of kidney shape in cross-section and belt assembly of the class described comprising, a smooth elongated flexible strap of uniform rectangular cross-section having a buckle embodying a pintle at one end thereof and a plurality of laterally spaced holes in the opposite end thereof, said pintle adapted to engage one of said laterally spaced holes, an elongated receptacle having an arcurate shaped front wall with a convex exterior surface, an arcuate shaped rear wall with a concave exterior surface, an arcurate shaped closed bottom wall with a convex exterior surface-and an open top portion defining an upwardly open compartment of kidney shape in cross-section and adapted to accommodate sundry articles therein, said receptacle having a substantially vertical longitudinal strip integrally secured to its concave exterior surface adjacent its upper and lower extremities thereof providing a passageway for slidably receiving said strap therethrough, the entire inner vertical wall surface of said strip being corrugated within said passageway for frictionally contacting the exterior surface of said liexible strap for securing said receptacle in a selected position along said flexible strap, the inner vertical wall of said said strap within said passageway l'Patented Mar. 2s, 1961 surface of said receptacle rear wall whereby the vertical axis of said belt extends in a vertical plane common to the upper and lower extremities of the rear wall of said receptacle, said recepgaclebeing located lengthwise with respect to' said strap, whereby it may be moved and ar-v ranged in any desirable selected location on the -exble strap and provide a Abelt with a receptacle of kidney shape 'in cross-section -for accommodating sundry articles`- therein without bulging of the concave rear wall of 10 said receptale due Ito itsY shape and due to said strap substantially reinforcing said rear wall in said passageway.
