and preventing the same from slipping over the top of the collar, all of which will be more fully hereinafter specified, and pointed out in the claims.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a perspective view of the top of the shirt provided with a band and having a collar thereon, my device being shown on the side of the band. In this View the necktieis omitted. Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the shirt-band, collar, and necktie, and my device. Fig. 8 is a perspective view of the device, a part of the central stripbeing broken away to show the band-engaging teeth.

The objectyof'this invention is to secure the collar in a fixed'position in relation to the necktie in a fixed position in relation to the collarthat is to say, the device is intended to secure the collar and the necktie in a fixed relative position on the shirt-band.. It is a wellknown fact that considerable trouble is experienced in keeping a collar and necktie in their proper position about the shirt-band. My invention obviates this difficulty by a simple, cheap, and effective device.

The operation of the device is as follows; The shirt-band is inserted between the strips A B. This can be done by springing out the strip B, whereby the teeth of the lower projection thereof are held away from the band until the device is drawn down on said band to the desired point. By this means the device is firmly secured to the band. Then by springing out the. top part of the strip 0 the collar is inserted between said strip and the strip A. Then by letting go of the part (lthe teeth a of the upper right-angled projection thereof engage the outside or" the collar. After the collar and shirt-bandhave thus been united, the necktie may be placed about the collar and over the outer surface of. the part0 of the device. The spurs D D on the part 0 will then prevent the necktie from rising as well as passing around the neck. It will thus be seen that the device holds the collar and necktie in a fixed relative position.

The device is preferably constructed of resilient metal, with an inward tendency of the teeth I) and e. The normal position of these teeth is inward against the sides of the portion A. The teeth are, however, easily sprung 9 5 out by hand in engaging the device to the band and securing the collar.
